Sorry, I disagree. A freeway would not just hurt Patterson. You'd be a fool if you think Modesto, Turlock, Merced arn't looking at this and what that would do to their economy.

And with what's going on with gasoline and the middle east, those commuters would be wiser to live where they work, or support mass transit.

"Give me a break. "

You don't deserve a break.

" Regardless of the money we are going to have to pay sometime whether you like it or not.."

Wrong, if we don't build it, we don't have to pay. I, for one, don't want subsidize a road to the Bay Area. We have already provided low cost housing for the Bay Area.

" eventually it is going to happen. And as far as the commuters are concerned..THIS CITY was the one who build homes and people bought, if you want to be pissed with someone be pissed with the City of Patterson and go let the councel know how you feel they are the ones calling the shots and for your info. I am not PO'd at anyone. People moved here under their own free will. They should have known what they were going to face long commutes when they moved here. Now they expect everyone else to pay for their convenience?

" are about to build more than 3000 homes minumum. If they don't do anything about the traffic it will be bad for everyone including yourself and not JUST commuters going to work, "

Wrong, I don't commute to the Bay Area, so what happens on Altamont Pass at 6:00 AM does not affect me. I would never take a job in the Bay Area for that reason.

" So too bad it's going to happen one day and will all have to deal with it. "

Well, Pombo is gone and there is nobody else who wants it. You won't have to deal with it since you'll never see it in your lifetime.

How can we all be so selfish? If the City of Patterson did not want people to live in the city why did they build the houses? It was done in anticipation to grow the city. This is why 300 more houses are being built while there are over 300 houses going through foreclosure or bank owned in Patterson. People are loosing their houses because they were forced to commute to the Bay Area in order to afford the houses in Patterson. Recognize the housing medium in Patterson is over 400k. A person or couple must make 80k plus a year with a debt to income of 30% or less. The food cost are up and gas is out of control. It cost average of $600 a month for a person to commute to Bay Area so they can make $6000 plus a month to afford the house in Patterson. The average employee makes less than $15.00 per hr. or $2600 a month in the Central Valley. How can this person afford to live in Patterson evenin a house that is 30 yrs old selling for $200000.00. A family of 4 with average income of 7500 per month pays 3000 plus just for their morgage and can barely survive. Patterson folks did not complain when their $125,000 houses went up to $300k. Now the same people are loosing equatiy and blaming families who wanted to make a differnce for their loved one's. What is this world coming to? Our founding four fahter's beleived in God, Peace and Justice. What would they say of our country today if they could see what's going on. We should all be ashamed.

We need the freeway very badly everyone blames the bay area people. No one blaming the cost of living or pay around us. I made only 7.00 an hour until a bay area company moved over here and I now make 11.00 doing the same thing. We need the bay area people and company to grow... So deal with it

Anyone know where to write to post it please or any new information....

What? You make absolutely no sense. Here is some new information for you. The proposed freeway is D.O.A. It died with Pombo's exit from Congress. No one else supports that billion dollar boondoggle.

Here is your update. It's over. You can put a fork in it. If you are still alive past the year 2108 you might see it happen.

" Relax.. Not in your city of patterson maybe down south ok... maybe NEWMAN side because the hill is little bit low."

Wrong. The Nature Conservancy purchased all of the land West of Newman and Highway 5 and South of Crows Landing. It is now an open space/ state refuge. It's not going through there.

" California got some money .. look what about SF bridge retrofit they created bridge and more expensive. how about the hills??"

Have you looked at California's budget lately? The state currently is facing a large budget deficit. There isn't enough money in California for that project. Nor should that money be wasted on such a boondoggle.

We don't want to be like L.A., buddy. Recognized by whom? Don't be laid back country? What?

How could a freeway from Patterson to San Jose hurt anything? Smaller commute for residents, boost property values, and stimulate the economy of Patterson. You Greenies need to get over it, stop crying about environmental impact...it's only costing everyone more money.

How about inreasing the jobs to housing imbalance, housing becoming even more unaffordable, urban sprawl, faster loss or prime farmland, larger bedroom community, worsing air pollution. Water. It may be costing commuters more in gas, but that is about it. You need to move closer to the Bay Area if you don't like it.

Hey guys, check this out. I few months ago I was talking to one of my customers and said that his friend is working on the new freeway from Patterson to San Jose. I am not sure if she is BS'ing or maybe they are just fixing the road. The only way we can find out is go drive there ourselves.

You can actually see the road with google map. As long as we all work together as a TEAM, we can make a difference. Does anyone have any friends or connection that might get more info. from the city or cal trans?

Someone you know must be on drugs. There has no money allocated for it and it has not even been approved by the Federal government. The goverment only funded to study whether it is even feasible. First the government has to approve the funds, then a lengthy environmental review would have to take place, then the government would have to secure the property from landowners. Then there are going to be lawsuits filed to stop it. Plus, the chief promoter of this project, Pombo, is long gone. If you live another 50 to 100 years, you might see it. There is already a road to San Jose from Patterson. It is not a freeway.

If he's from Patteron, then most likely he and his friend are on drugs (sorry pat res)

you know what I find funny, is all these bay area people who came here and bought over priced homes now want everyone else to bail them out.

If you want a freeway, then start taking collections and build it yourself...it's not my fault you are now paying more for gas than you saved buying that over priced home and I don't think I should have to pay for a damn freeway.

In contrast with San Clara and San Francisco areas being the first counties in northern California to star regaining their pre-recession home values and employment levels since the second quarter of 2009; the Stanislaus river valley is expected to remain an economic disaster area beyond 2015 with the largest real state depreciation coupled with one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. Patterson real estate is currently below construction prices with one of the highest foreclosure rate in the Country; the people from the city of Patterson need work and recover the equity of their houses if there is a time to move forward and build the new highway the time is now and all Patterson residents should be united and support a new proposal for the construction of the San Jose Patterson highway as an American Recovery and Reinvestment project before is too late.

I think it is about time to have this plan put into action. Call your representative to push for this. It will help thousands of suffering people who have to endure a daily commute of back and forth from central valley and silicon valley. Ease too much population growth, building apartment complexes and condominiums just to accomodate them in the silicon valley because there is no more land for expansion but to cramp these people like sardines. We all know that it very expensive to live in the central valley, the houses are old and small. While in the central valley the houses are cheaper, bigger, newer and plenty of space. We know people like houses than apartments or condominiums but they do not want to suffer what thousands of people are suffering everyday, driving from I-5 or 205 to 580 to 680. Everyday you hear news about traffic problem in the altamount pass either accident or roadwork from early morning to nighttime. Are our politicians blind that they do not know about this situation or the commuters numb that they rather suffer everyday than to do something about it. If they can tolerate that bay bridge fiasco what more about the freeway from I-5 to 680 via 130. You be the judge!
