Wow.. this is SOO sad :( I remember this Amber Alert coming over the TV about two hours after he was taken. What a tragedy,.. innocent little boy GONE. I couldn't even begin to imagine what this family must be going through. People are sick.

Could have just been an accident that took the life of both the man & boy. We'll never know. The Mother seems to believe it was an accident.

Info from other sources than the ER.

Did the media ever ask the mother who and where is the boy's biological father? Probably dead or in prison.

No reason to believe it was an accident at all! You're dealing with a worhtless thug (the kidnapper), a maniac here. He's already been convicted of manslaughter and sex with a minor, been abusive towards the mother (by her own admission) and snatched the baby right out of the arms of it's grandmother. He was a jerk! Let hi rot in Hell where he belongs! Maybe now his weeping family will stop spouting that nonsense about what a wonderful person he was and how much he loved the baby! Bullshit! You don't kidnap or kill people you love! So tragic about the baby being dead but I'm glad this bastard is dead! At least we don't have to support this punk in prison for the rest of his life...and that's a good thing!

By the way what the mother believes about it being an accident is immaterial. She has been spouting almost as much nonsense as the kidnapper's family, saying she just knew her baby was not in the canal and at the same time dissing the well meaning citizens who were turning in leads about seeing the two elsewhere in California. I fully sympathize which her tragic loss of course but some of her remarks have been totally inane!

Most likely just another case of "my baby's daddy", somebody missing in action since right after conception. Birth control? Perish the thought! The city and country and state will take care of mother and child regardless of how many illegitimate children they bring into the world. She was already pregnant with the kidnapper's baby at the time of the kidnapping and he was already out of her life. Sound like a familiar story? Yup! Your tax dollars at work folks!

The boys mother is a nut case. It was no accident. She has a poor judgement of character and remember now she desires to carry the DNA of her sons killer thus pregnant. The mother believing this was a accident needs to have CPS take her child at birth and permanently sterilized. Goofy woman.

You think CPS has enough personnel to provide 24/7 surveillance of all wacko families (and we're talking mothers AND fathers here!)? The facts are that as this single woman was about to give birth to her first illegitimate child ("my baby's daddy" missing in action as usual!) she takes up with this abusive jailbird and later gets pregnant by him, now about to give birth to illegitimate child #2. Her statements on TV have shown her to be mentally instable and delusional. Does she really sound like a responsible individual or qualifiied parent to you?

That's a hard and complex one to answer! Until we all become more irresponsible in having and raising children and choosing the relationships we enter into tragedies like this are going to happen again and again. This revenge oriented society as exemplified by the media, TV and movies in particular,(violence the answer to everything!) isn't helping the situation, nor is that cultural rot called "gangsta rap" which glorifies punks, thugs and gangs just as it condones every uncivil and criminal act up to and including murder. Then there is the lack of education thing with over half of students in some urban areas dropping out before completing high school. The change is going to have to come from within because as I said before CPS (Child Protective Services) does not have the personnel or finances to tail all these totally irresponsible parents and protect their children 24/7.
Tight budgets in rough economic times mean even less money for such services will be available in the future.

Unfortunately there is no sign that we are getting anywhere close to the responsibility I'm talking about anytime soon. Don't get me started about these young women (some still children themselves!) who are irresponsibly (even repeatedly!) bringing unwanted children into the world, with the help or irresponsible missing-in-action men only known as "my baby's daddy"! Having an illegitimate child seems to be a badge of honor these days! Those kids in most cases are doomed from the beginning...and so is our society!
