Trees felled by Hurricane Katrina carved into statues by Florida sculptor
Floridian wood-carving artist Marlin Miller has fashioned over 50 sculptures for the Mississippi Gulf Coast area to boost tourism post-Katrina. His most recent gift was four wooden statues to the Jackson County Welcome Center on Interstate 10 Westbound, including the 6 foot tall eagle seen here.

I have conflicting information about who carved the trees along the MS Gulf Coast (Hwy. 90) was it Marlin Miller of Fort Walton Beach, Fla, or Dayton Scoggins of Mississippi?

Marlin Miller carved the trees. Never heard of Scoggins.

I stand corrected! All I ever knew of was M. Miller. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

I guess they both did some carvings. Now, of course, I'm curious as to which ones each man did. LOL

I was on Highway 90 walking the median today taking pictures for my own gallery. The detail on each and every carving, regardless of the artist, is just absolutely breath-taking and extraordinarily accurate. My thanks to each artist.
