ACLU: Diamondhead POA violates residents' rights

The American Civil Liberties Union says it has sued the Diamondhead Property Owners Association for what it says are rules that prohibit candidates from displaying political yard signs and campaigning door to door.

Diamondhead is in violation of civil liberties.This is a serious matter, I hope the POA is taking notice. The POA has gone to far. You can not have complete control like that.

I don't know how POA's are structured in Mississippi, but these are not normally governmental entities...so I am a bit confused as to how the ACLU thinks the POA is violating someone's civil rights.

Must be some statutory provision I'm not recalling at the moment, but I just can't see how voluntary restrictive covenants that run with the land can violate civil rights through POA enforcement of the covenant...?

The POA in the city of Diamondhead, MS is a joke and always has been. They are criminals extorting our dues. Two POA presidents have been convicted of assaulting members. The latest person convicted of assault was POA president Elton Marshal Kyger.
