If you put a Casino in Long Beach beacuse we need the revenue, what good is it if the town turns into a place you no longer want to live. Long Beach was a beautiful small town before Katrina and needs to be rebuilt the same way. Perhaps beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I know I am not alone in my love of small town Long Beach. Let's keep it that way. NO CASINOS!
Long Beach is a HORRIBLY poor and sad town. Beauty? Where do you see beauty ANYWHERE in Long Beach? It wasn't beautiful before the storm and isn't beautiful now! We pay the MOST in taxes and have the LEAST to offer...yey for being the closed minded small town with drugs, dead teens, pretty nice sized suicide rate, corrupt police department...a beautiful Long Beach does not exist.

OMG, is the city so blind that it cant see what's happening, casino's are all around, the city is going broke.... The tax dollars, new jobs, and other revenue casino's bring in would be the cure for what is slowly killing the city, It's time for change, Katrina brought devasting change to all along the coast, why should Long Beach slowly die of financial strangulation. Let them come in and cure the obvious cancer which has been inflicted. It's a win win ...WAKE UP MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS...SAVE LONG BEACH

I agree,go with the casino,My wife and I go to the coast from La. e/2 weeks and drop about a grand. We are gracious guests that also stop at c-stores and gas stations in your fair state. We like to start in Biloxi and work our way to Bay St.Louis, stopping at most casinos for a while.

Looking through some of the responses I can see the different sides of of the issue. Bottom line however is, there is no industry here. The Casinos are bringing revenue and taxes . This Gulf Coast is dying no more small shops or cute little towns before Katrina hit. Large Stores like Walmart are the only viable stores unless you want to go to Louisiana. No small shops or retailers unless you want to pay an arm and a leg like we do here in Diamondhead. The Pharmacy is outrageously overpriced including the Grocery store. I moved down here to be closer to my family now that they are aging. I came here from San Francisco, and let me tell you I am still in shock at how slow this progress has been. Some towns more than others. Like Waveland. Good Lawd when are they going to finish putting the sewer system in? No stores or homes on the beach other than the cottages which I think are darling but an eyesore compared to what highway 90 used to look like. Therefore as much as I would love to see this being resolved by not allowing more Casinos to build it's the only viable source of good revenue you have. Or get some other industry to build down here. From what I have seen they won't because the good old boy mentality is when is hunting season when is fishing season. Work ethics here are lacking, and the motivation to rebuild is shameful. Including what I have seen the politicians do.

Vote first on a new Mayor and Aldermans. They cant agree on nothing when they have their meetings and walk out when things get heated. Sit your butts down or keep a stepping so we can get people in there that are not afraid to fight for the better good of Long Beach. Remember the past is the past and you need to let the sleepy little town myth go with it. Long Beach really does suck other than a place to sleep. There is nothing here!! Kids have nothing to do, there are no sidewalks to make it a community. The pier area has seen no improvements and the downtown is a mess. There has been a few new businesses opened and that is great but why is there such a disconnect on what is right and wrong. Keep your religous opinions to yourself! They are fruitless when it comes anything other than having a good soup kitchen which Long Beach will need more of if the Govt keeps running this way and voting our future away. Our kids live here Skellie!!! Get off you butt and get to work. Stop sucking this town dry of any hope and money that may be sitting around waiting for the next great idea.

Get off your Butts or get out!!!!! NOW!!!

I believe that we still have enough facial scares along the coast, since after Katrina, and to build casinos along the waterfronts of either Long Beach, or Pass Christian, would further erode their scienic integriety, also along with the approval of gambling in Florida, Mississippi casinos will be seeing a decline in revenues
