Why did you bump this?

Anyway -- doesn't really shock me. Every single ounce of fertilizer, sewer & pollution run off from New York to Minnesota & Wisconsin & up into Colorado & Montana empties out into the Gulf south of New Orleans so we get all that nitrogen & hormone/pesticide run-off killing the oysters....

Not many know just how big the Mississippi River watershed is:

This doesn't even include all the stuff that runs into the Gulf in our region from the Pearl/Pascagoula/Mobile/etc rivers....

Not many know about the nitrogen "dead zone" in the Gulf. Its pretty big.
