Driver in DUI death could be facing 30 years
“Burns stumbled over his feet and had to be escorted to walk a straight line”
Robert Wayne Burns was so drunk the night he ran over and killed a tow truck driver that he needed a police escort to help him walk, authorities said.
Burns, 45, who has three prior drunken driving convictions, waived his preliminary hearing in Justice Court on Wednesday. Charged with felony driving drunk causing death and felony leaving the scene of an accident causing death, Burns could face 30 years in prison, County Attorney Herman Cox said.
'I'm surprised he didn't want a hearing,' Cox said. 'By him waiving that hearing, he's acknowledged that there is sufficient probable cause.' Read more

It is so sad that my brother's life is only worth 30 years for a man that has done this at least 4 times. The sadest part is that he probably will not serve the full thirty and be back out on the road to hurt or kill someone else. I can only pray that he gets the full thirty years and that no other family will be victim to this idiot.
