Man injured when homemade explosive malfunctions

I wonder how many people know its a violation of federal law to have these kinds of things sitting around our property.
What if a dumb kid or pet had wandered onto his land?

Not seeing how an explosive exploding can be called a malfunction.
Seems it worked exactly like explosives are supposed to.
