The one your talking about was either called the Eagle theater or the thunder bird theator...i remember it .....we use to watch movies from our back yard sitting on top of our swing set.
I was wondering why they never built nothing on that land for years and years.....approx 50 to 56 years nothing was put there.

Yes. There was another one also on Red Bluff. If you know where the K&K Drive Inn (beer joint?) is, it was on the south side of it. Just south of Kingsdale, right before you get into the curve.
I worked there as a cashier when I was a teenager but I don't recall the name of it.
That was the old Town and Country Theater....been there many times.

There were 2 restaurants.
Still remaining is the Monument Inn.
Was the other one San Jacinto Inn?
I had always wanted to go there but never made it.
Remember , before the Monument Inn was in it's present location, the place was call the Lynchburg Crossing....when the Monument orginal building burnt down it then bought out the Lynchburg Crossing resturant and moved in there. I remember back in 68 going to the Monument Inn before it moved down by the ferry.

How about A&G?
How about Cliff's grocery store?

How about the old police station across from the teen hang out called the VOX...who remembers those.

The Chuck Wagon was on Shaver cati-corner from St Pius. There was also one of those trampoline places by the Capitan.

A&G grocery store was a few blocks east of Jackson Jr, High.

Cliff's grocery store was also on Shaver, opposite side from the Chuck Wagon and few blocks south. Very small - but I remember my mom shopping there.

A&G would let you run a tab for groceries. It was run and owned by Jerry Bull. A very nice family. I remember once when a guy robbed the store, Mr. Bull went out after him and shot him. It was very big news back then and surprising because Mr. Bull was such a gentleman.
The trampolines I remember were the ones on our way to the Capitan.

I've never seen any like that again in my life have you? Remember all the watermellon stands where you bought the mellon and they sliced them and gave you a big shaker of salt..We would set at tables and eat them get sticky then go home and play in the waterhose..
OML!! Yes!

I had forgotten about the watermelon stands.
The one in our part of town was like a large covered open building that was screened in. Even had a screen door.

It's amazing how simple, but fun, things were then.

<quoted text>La Porte to Seabrook isn't that much better actually. But that being said, my mom had terrible problems with cysts in her sinuses growing up right by the paper mill. I spent my childhood over by Port Road, just on the other side of the port, at a stable and I got cancer, three of my friends got cancer, and about four horses got cancer including my own. Coincidence? Doubt it.
Don't say that... I use to spend a lot of my childhood at that barn raising animals and helping friends raise their horses.

The drive in theater on RedBluff close to 225 was called the Red Bluff Drive Inn an latter it turned into a rated xxx drive inn an before it or the Town an Country we had the drive Inn theater on shaver street before you get to Pauline street I think there is a trailer park there now an before either one of the two on red bluff there was one about where beltway 8 crosses red bluff on the east side of red bluff about where there are storage buildings an a bank an a station on the SE corner.
