For me, none of the 2010 county council (district 3) republican candidates stand out as a clear choice.
In this case, It's a shame we have term limits. Ron Dillion has been an effective councilperson for our district for the past eight years. This no surpprise as he was an experienced business person prior to his election and brought integrity and a caring attidude for the district to go along with it.
Lets take a look at what each candidate brings to the table, and also what their shortcomings are.
Tom Redmond....Experience in the council without a doubt. Knows the district very well and has a lifelong history of serving the community. His downfall is all of the baggage from his past, botyh from a personal and business aspect. He is hardly our "White Knight in shining Armor" that the citizens can look to as our leader, but his heart is in the right place.
Derek Fink... Young, connected to experienced folks in the political world but doent have it. Seems like he is a community-minded person, but really doesnt have any past record to speak of until he decided to run for the council. I am still trying to figure out where he has gotten the business experience that is being advertised. A short stint with Cookies kitchen and a managing director with a new restaurant that is not even open yet hardly qualifies in my book.
Carl "Dutch" Holland.... This guy is the one that confuses me the most. Other than a one-term standing in the council many, many years ago, he has been invisible to the people in our district. The fact that he feels that he shoudnt have to work hard to be elected pisses me off. Any politician that gets my vote will have to earn it. Aside from that though, I am sure he would be a good "representative" for our district, but thats about it.
Let the people in District 3 Decide...
