I am so sorry to hear about the death of
Thomas. My prayers are with the family and friends in this difficult time. Accidents happen to all kinds of children, and autistic children and adults have value in our society.

What a repulsive, ugly thought to put into words. What ever possessed you to post such vile sentiment for others to see. You should be ashamed.
And where would you propose to put these children, a concentration camp. I will pray that God does not judge you as harshly as you judge children with developmental delays, who are different. I pray every night for the safety of my autistic son, who is brilliant and beautiful. I am thankful to have him in my life and accept the responsibility of his care, no matter how difficult or challenging. I am thankful to be blessed with him and would be devastated to lose him. I will pray for Thomas and his family, who must be beside themselves with grief and misplaced guilt. I will not pray for you as you appear to have no heart, and I am afraid I am just not that big of a person. Comments such as yours, should remain inside the bigoted dusty space that passes for a mind.

Oh and Steven,
Just where do you think autistic children are coming from-bad genes, damaged wombs, the legions of "autistic" people who came before. The incidence rate of autism was 1 in 10,000 in 1970, 1 in 2,000 in 1990 and 1 in 150 today. My son displayed no autistic traits until 24 months. I did not drink or do drugs while pregnant. I had full genetic testing done and there were no indicators- no faulty genes. The truth is noone really knows what causes these traits and who, among us, is perfect. I know what a challenge it is to have a extremely intelligent 5 1/2 year old child who has the escape artist skills of Houdini and the id of a 18 month old. 99% of the time I keep him out of harm's way, twice he has escaped my watchful eye but was luckily found quickly by someone in the neighboorhood.Tragedy does occur, as it can with any child. Most children are eventually trusted to walk down the street to a friend's house- despite all precautions, sometimes one of these children are hit by a car and killed. So should we lock our children in a closet until they are eighteen? My son isn't stupid, he wants freedom like any other child. He just has no native fear of dangerous things and so is stuck at home with mom. Every so often he rebels, as does EVERY child. Part of the problem is parents of autistic children are devoted, but tired. Friends and family are sympathetic, but often lack the skills, patience, empathy or stamina to help us or give us respite. Society and fine citizens, such as yourself, either pity us or condemn us(neither of which is especially helpful), because they do not take the time to know these beautiful, special children.
More and more people are gaining awareness and getting over their revulsion, discomfort, etc...The real tragedy is there are so many, like you, who fear and hate anyone who is different and wish to eradicate or lock them up. Nazi Germany shared the same ideology as you.

The good news Steven... Ignorance is curable simply by learning the truth and the facts. The bad news Steven is that STUPIDITY is not curable and therefore we need to remove you from the gene pool before you contaminate any offspring you might produce and/or any impressionable young minds you may come in contact with in your lifetime. Think and educate yourself before saying or writing such STUPID statements.
Normally. I just ignore stupidity but a child has lost their life and the parents will never be the same again. I am a proud mother of a 32 y/o autistic son( who by the way test as a genius) and also the grieving mother of a 16 y/o son who was a straight A student with a four year scholarship waiting for him when he graduated but was killed by drugged up people doing 85mph in 45mph , school bus pick up zone. Please if you have any humanity or empathy in you please write an apology /forgiveness letter or statement here and pray you will be forgiven. Then Educate yourself.

I agree we should all ignore him, otherwise he is getting what he wants...I am new here, but witness this kind of behavior everywhere. I lost an Autistic son in March, he drowned in a nearby creek. Autistic's go missing every day, as do with "normal" children. Humans are not perfect and mistakes are made. My son, Noah, loved the water, and could hear like a batt. It was too irrisistable to him....the sparkeling of the creek, the sound and movement it made. All things that he was always drawn to. Fast, quiet, and mischevious, he slipped out of our site, found the creek (only 100 yds away) and fell in. The water was too cold, his body shut down right away. My precious litte baby was gone. I know how the Family is feeling right now, I wish them my deepest sympathy and love. My prayers are with you. Try to fill that emptiness with memories of his sweet face and take notice to all the gifts he'll be sending your way. God Bless.
