The vehicle that was purchased had an odometer reading at less than 90K miles. After approx. 1.5 years, it was listed on http://cars.com and a carfax report was obtained. Its pretty obvious that the 205,000 miles went to "exempt from reporting" by Kendall Richards. He claims that he gave an AMU statement, I believe he called it, which was something along the lines of "Actual Miles Unknown". The Miles were clearly known, and because federal law requires EVERY vehicle to have an odometer statement with exception of vehicles over ten yrs and a few others, Kendall interpreted this as meaning he had no obligation to disclose an approximation of the miles of the vehicle. My question to him was not answered. "What was wrong the original odometer"? I hope to take him out of business. Of all the things to disclose, I'd think he legally had an obligation to disclose the 100,000 miles that were not on the odometer, that he clearly knew about when he purchased the vehicle, all carfax considering....****** Unknown Owner 06/10/2011 205,762 MILES Ohio Motor Vehicle Dept. Wonder why nobody complains about the bullets flying off the DuPont gun range? You can walk around picking up bullets out of driveways.

Carfax tracks plenty of records besides dealership repairs.

Would you buy a car with a Carfax history showing flood, fire, or total loss damage? Would you buy a car claimed to be a one owner by a little ole lady and the Carfax showed taxi, fleet, or rental? How about the car showing 30k miles and Carfax proves 230k miles?

Don't want to use Carfax, that's fine. But don't whine when the mold sets in from the flood. Don't whine when the trans falls out because the car has 350,000 miles and was a former rental car.

Most people that run around saying Carfax is a gimmick are probably just parroting what they read, posted by another uninformed internet poser.
