Another attempt to recall sheriff

The La Paz Committee to Recall Don Lowery took out an application for a recall petition June 21 with the county Elections Department.
Richard Abbey, of Quartzsite, took out the application and Joyce Curren was named treasurer of the organization La Paz Committee to Recall Sheriff Lowery. The political committee needs to gather a minimum of 1,351 signatures by Oct. 19.
This is the third attempt to recall Sheriff Lowery. The first two recalls were spearheaded by Curren.
The first attempt was when Curren took out papers July 28, 2010. She had until Nov. 26, to gather a minimum of 1,351 signatures. Curren then sent a letter Nov. 15, 2010, to the La Paz County Elections Department requesting to withdraw the original petition.
The new petition, which Curren took out Nov. 23, had a deadline date of March 23. No signatures were submitted to the Elections Department at the March deadline.
The grounds for recall are as follows for the recent recall:
“Sheriff Lowery has proven repeatedly he lacks the will, experience, management skills or integrity to serve as La Paz County Sheriff. He has created a hostile work environment of officers and exposed the County to liability by inaction in the Escorza matter among others.
He has failed in his oath of the office and degraded the good name of the La Paz County Sheriff’s Deputies as well as La Paz County by unequal enforcement and an unwillingness to investigate violations for personal reasons.
The La Paz County Sheriff’s office is not to be used as anyone’s get out of jail free card. There is one rule of law intended to be equally enforced, the buddy system created by Sheriff Lowery is not acceptable and contrary to the public good.”
The Pioneer contacted Sheriff Lowery and he had no comment at this time.

I grew up in La Paz county and had Lowery as my dare officer all through school. He was a true insperation to me and had a stong influenece on me joining the military. I dont know why people are trying to recall him as sheriff. As far as i know, he is a good one and an all around good person that is looking out for our community better than alot of other people are.

Typical of someone from Quartzsite. Dan Lowery must be doing his job and stepping on some toes. During the last administration, these re-callers may been allowed to get by with doing things, you know, with a wink and a nod, things Lowery will not allow or tolerate. The thing to do is take a good look at these re-callers and see what they have in common.

The fact that you call him Dan shows your ignorance in this matter. Don Lowery has covered up the child molestation charges against one of his officers Joe Escorza. Lowery was Escorza molested several children at the school where he was security officer. Lowery covered it up and this child molester still has a badge and gun. Lowery and Escorza both need to be locked up, and a recall is a good start.

You know ! If what your implying were even close to the truth
Don Lowery would have never have made it into his current position!
Keep to the facts!
And the pioneer would have been all over it!
