Quit calling it a rail hub, it is a RAILYARD. If people think this debacle will only affect Gardner then they are wrong. This railyard and the 5000 trucks a day will stop traffic in most of Johnson county. Especially anywhere on I-35. The polution fro these trucks will be devastating for anyone upwind from the railyard.

the traffic in gardner just went to crap. It already is due to road construction, now it will become worse. Not to mention the trains every 10 minutes will increase and they will be slower

Hence the reason for the construction...To make traffic easier. The Hub is not going to be built in downtown Gardner, it will be south and west of town. By the way, if you haven't already noticed, their are several quick and easy paths around the moonlight railroad crossing.

Trains related to the facility are a small portion of the trains that pass thru the area today. I've heard 7 to 9 trains a day will use the facility at some point in the future. Train traffic today is down from what it was 2 years ago. Also, note that the opening day projections for trucks at the Intermodal Facility is 1800, not 5000....and its not worth commenting about traffic congestion throughout Johnson County...Bear, why don't you do a little research before spewing incorrect information.

I respectfully ask that Kansas City Fox 4 News correct the location of the Kansas City Intermodal Facility. It will not be built in Gardner, Kansas but instead will be built in Edgerton, Kansas. Edgerton has worked hard with the State of Kansas, Johnson County, BNSF and TAG KC to make sure this project will happen. If you should have any questions please feel free to email me at this address.

What is sad is that Gardner passed on this, and they also passed on the Kansas Speedway/Legends. Kind of makes you wonder what kind of city council/government has. if there current traffic problems are an example of how they handle things, it might be a blessing that the city of Edgerton got this project.

Actually it was Johnson County proper that passed on the Speedway/Legends due to the amount of tax breaks and bonds they were requesting for construction. The cities had some say in the matter but it was a County decision, and I agree, a poor one at that.

Well no matter how you slice it, the entire metro area, with the exception of KC,KS. is about twenty years behind the rest of the country, guess it says alot, as to why Kansas City, Mo. and Johnson County, Ks. lose out on a lot of projects, look at the success of the great Plains Mall, go Johnson County drive yourself into non-existense I among others have faith in you> PS: might go towards helping you alot, if you did something about your core services, especially your police and water dept.'s. Just is just in the Olathe area.
