The Associated Press item above is correct, the building was not evacuated. Police Chief John Douglas suggested we could leave, but the crowd just said "no" and stayed put.
When the 2nd package was found, there was even less of a reaction from the crowd. Of course, many fewer people will see the true story above than would have seen your telecast tonight.
Your tv newscast this evening indicated that there was indeed an evacuation and further, that Kobach and the Sheriff were hustled off to a secure location due to the threat. The newscast was grossly in error. Your "reporter" was on the scene, yet his report was wrong. Why?
