i would suggest that all concerned about this issue attend the metting at city hall on 12/17.
there is also a issue about real estate increase for the city going to be brought up.
my questions are many concerning all of this. as of now what happens to the $1.90 per 1000 gals that we are presently paying?
also i would think that the city would look at current positions being held at the present time.
one on those would be the executive admin for the police dept. just what function is it accountable for?
i am sure there are others.

The problem is not Chicago Heights officials, but Hammond. Chicago Heights leadership is doing all it can in court to stop this injustice against their citizens.

mr.digger & miss mia,
i am not a nasty person. however i do agree with the both of you re: the hammond mayor, but this is what i see down the line as far as the city end of it goes.
present res water bill= 0.57---water charged to the city
1.90---fee charged to the residents
tot= 2.47---charged to the residents per 1000gal
what i can see happening if hammond gets what the want is,
2.20---charger to the city
approx2.50---fee charged to the residents
bottom line maybe tot=4.70---charged to the residents per 1000gal
i can understand the markup to the residents due to maint & etc so i wouldn't want to take that away, however i feel that a markup up in that fee is taking advantage at an extremely bad time for the residents. that along with the proposed tax levi re: real estate taxes is all coming at a very time for many people.
i only hope that i am wrong about this & that the present administration has the people in mind when they make their decide as to what course of action to take. for me it makes no diff what so ever since i have well water, but i can't help but feel for those who don't. like i stated above the time may be here to have a serios look at payroll.
have a great day

I can only comment here based on what I have read in an article from Southtown and city press release, which lead me to think the Hammond Mayor is an a$$hole.

The Southtown article claimed he laughed about raising Chgo Hts rates just to make up in lost casino money. And that he said there was a control over how much he could charge in IN but not IL so why not charge more to IL.

I'd like to tell him that the reason you should not increase it so much is because MANY families are barely getting by now, so holding water as hostage is insensitive clearly showing he is not one that cares about the well being of others.

This is not a racial or sexist or political issue. This is a crime against all Chicago Heights businesses and families. It's outrageous that a mayor would do this to us from another town. God doesn't like ugly and HAMMOND MAYOR should be ashamed to call himself a public servant.
