Dennis McGrail almost has a point, but would probably find that organizing his information a bit better would help him to organize his argument.
Yellowstone NP has a system of regulating, not banning, snowmobiles in the park. The allow just over 300 per day, but require that the riders travel with registered guides and use only machines with the "best available technology." As Mr. Mcgrail hints, four-stroke engines, like those in most cars, are considered better (quieter and less polluting) than two-stroke engines, like those on chainsaws and weed whackers.
Mr. McGrail would apparently prefer all snowmobiles to be four-stroke, and I can't disagree. But what he seems to be excessively riled about is the use of the 'biles at PCMR.
While some trips may just be employees goofing off, Mr. McGrail should consider the fact that, aside from the lifts, there is no way for a ski patroller, say, to get up the mountain. So, without the 'biles, there would be one less important piece of equipment for trail maintenance, skier safety and, most importantly, first aid. If Mr. McGrail, apparently an avid tree-hugger, gets a sudden impulse to embrace one at 25 mph, I'm sure he'd prefer to be rescued by snowmobilers than by first responsers who had to hike up to him.
