Someone needs to be held accountable for this . How do 9 kids drink on a school trip and not get caught or seen ? Who was watching them ?

Where were the parents? Where were the coaches? This is a failure of leadership starting at the top.

Unbelieveable! Once again people want to pass the blame on teachers and coaches. What about the kids parents? Teaching kids about control and personal responsability begins at home. Those kids have free will and made a CHOICE to drink. Stop placing the blame on chaperones and coaches and put it where it really belongs!

Sullivan, Chestnut, and the others. Way to make your community proud. I hope Sullivan loses his scholarship. What an embarrassment ...

15 -16 yr olds need to be watched . Simply . They are not able to make responsible decisions at that age Obviously. This is not the first time this has happened with them . Parents do have to take some responsibility I agree but it was a school function not a vacation with parents .

I wonder what the punishment is gonna be? Suspension from the baseball team should be the least of their worries.

Word is there were no adults on the bus down and back except for the bus driver. THAT IS SO WRONG!!! There should have been a minimum of 2 adults on the bus. A bus driver should not be responsible for the behavior of students on a bus no matter what the occasion! At Myrtle Beach there should have been chaperones for every 3-5 students. Yes, we can blame coaches and teachers when they do not take responsible for the students under their supervision. Many coaches are good coaches, role models, supervisors, etc. Obviously our baseball team lacks that type of leadership. Hopefully this is a lesson learned for all involved!!!!

A whole week off from school....we will all get together and practice.
We don't need chaperones.
We need some time out.

Nothing will come of this, Sullivan and Chestnut are the prodigy athletes, They will do the week suspension and nothing more will come from it. Face it Camden is a sports town that stands behind their players, when in reality they should give them a hard kick in the ass. It is known by everyone that the Sullivan's turn their heads to the underage drinking that goes on. I mean really have you ever looked at their kids facebook?? the pictures show it all very drunk kids at their house. When is the school system going to take a stand? They allow them to run the school and do whatever they choose. They are bullys to kids that aren't as popular or as good as they are in sports, they make fun of kids all the time. When you know what your kid is doing and accept it your just as bad as they are. I think that the boys that weren't involved should not be punished but again that won't happen, No one wants to be on the bad side of a Sullivan because they all know what that means. Grow the hell up boys, you WERE SUPPOSED to be role models for the kids wanting to stand one day in your shoes and be a great athlete. But instead you bring shame to your community that supports you so much, and to your high school that are your followers, your senior year you had to be stupid and you ruined it. way to go Marcus and Cody and the other boys that were involved.

If a student is suspended from school, aren't they also banned from participating in a sport in the next sports season (like the fall of 2012)? For the sophomores and juniors, this could be a problem for other sports, right?

There are some good kids coming up thru the program in the next couple of years . Have faith they will restore Camdens good name . The second offence kids are out for good and the first timers will be fine after their suspension is over . Next year will be better . Welcome the new leaders .

Were the parents aware that there were no adults on the bus besides the bus driver? As a parent I would have known who was traveling with my underage child to another state. I have a hard time putting the sole blame on the school and coaches. If pot was brought and smoked and the boys were drinking it all goes back to parenting. Those boys that were drinking and smoking made a choice to do so and should be punished. Having said that the parents should be held responsible as well.

not saying that i condone what happened here at all but i would like to point out that it is fully within the law for a parent to allow their child to drink in their presence.
i honestly dont care about any of this but i have read several posts ripping into some families for what they are doing in their own homes when i dont know if that is the actual topic that should be discussed here.
