The Episcopal Church's presiding bishop said Saturday in Buffalo that she believes divisiveness over issues of sexuality and Biblical interpretation has subsided in recent years, and the church is continuing its historical tradition of being at the forefront of the cause for social justice.

Really...let's get to the important issues...like getting folks to church and to practice God's love in real life.

"While diversity ó and even some conflict ó over such issues is healthy for the church, it canít come at the expense of the broader goal of addressing mission priorities, including global and domestic poverty, climate change and preaching a nuanced understanding of the gospel, she said. "

I think we all know what is meant by a "nuanced" understanding of the gospel.

I always thought that the core mission of the Church was to bring people to Christ.

When did "climate change" come into it?

Or is that part of the nuance?

So "The Episcopal Church's presiding bishop said Saturday in Buffalo that she believes divisiveness over issues of sexuality and Biblical interpretation has subsided in recent years"?

The PB should change her "beliefs" because the facts on the Topix TEC forum don't back them up.

Yeah as soon as you stop beating the DEAD HORSE it will stop. But here's the deal. YOU ARE NOT AN EPISCOPALIAN. YOU DO NOT HAVE A VOICE or A VOTE in this. You are an outsider. It would be the same a me thinking that I can tell the good folks over at First Baptist what they MUST do....NONE of my business. Neither is TEC for you....quitter.

Not according to Topix: there is no membership required to particpate, or even edit its TEC forum.

That's the real deal, so deal with it.

Not according to McHeretic. Smaller is better. No need to sek out the lost. Everyone who should be an Episcopalian already is (except those on the verge of leaving).

Golly Goeorgie, I thought I said that.

Oh no, it was Jesus.

Where two or more gather in my name. not the thousands attending the intimate mega-churches.

"thousands" would qualify under "or more".

LOL - I found the perfect song for you Georgie Boy (or is that Boy George?

It is called: Poor Johnny one-note

Johnny could only sing one note
And the note he sings was this
Ah!

Poor Johnny one-note
sang out with "gusto"
And just overlorded the place
Poor Johnny one-note
yelled willy nilly
Until he was bleu in the face
For holding one note was his ace

And there is a song that describes the Christian church's hope as
regards you and your merry band of apostates and heretics as we await God's eventual triumph over the filth you preach:

Though with a scornful wonder
men see her sore oppressed,
by schisms rent asunder,
by heresies distressed;
yet saints their watch are keeping,
their cry goes up, "How long?"
and soon the night of weeping
shall be the morn of song.

That is obvious.

You have are a fool and they let you edit this site while remaining a member of The Church of Rome.

It may be time to flood TOPIX with the question of editors posting articles that have nothing to do with the Forum as being a form of abuse. Hummmm.....

There is no business like show business. LOL - I love a good song!

You do realize that Christ Jesus was killed because He was a Jewish 'heretic' and a Judeo-Roman political dissident. Or did they leave those Passion stories out of your version of the Bible?

What would you care about Passion "stories?" It is all a myth after all. He wasn't God or he wasn't man. He didn't really die or He never physically rose. I can't keep track of which heresy you and you buddies are on at any given moment.

George - Have your new anti-psychotic drug levels test? You should do that as soon as possible. Even you can read and understand these words. They are available for all to read.

Faithful Episcopalians are in Covenant with God.

From TEC Book of Common Prayer:

The Baptismal Covenant

Celebrant: Do you believe in God the Father?

People: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Celebrant: Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God?

People: I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Celebrant: Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit?

People: I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Thanks T. I love you too...I am passionate about the love of God and I want everyone to know that is ree to them as well.

My primary purpose is to let people know just that. I want to drive EVERYONE to God and Wot and Joe and TA want to be the gatekeepers. Everyone is deserving of the Kingdom of God, even sinners like me.

I think a lot of denominations want to stress salvation - but that is what I think is beautiful about the episcopal church- we have a heart to reach the real needs in our communities- feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, loving the unlovable. Salvation in terms of saying "jesus is my savior" is overrated- the best ministry is love and acceptance - making others feel beautiful.

CS Lewis once said the worst enemy of the best was second best, and personally I don't want to find out first hand if hell is under-rated!
