where can i take my wedding ring to get appraised? i want to sell it, but im not sure how much to ask for it, and i know whoever buys it will want to see an appraisal.

does anyone know where i can get this done at?

i went to jewel mart and the lady was TOTALLY rude to me. so i will NOT be getting it appraised there.

any other ideas?

Do you expect to get more than scrap gold value? What makes the ring special? Is there a diamond?

She is a VERY nice lady. You must not understand that she does not do appraisals. Her husband does as well as David.

I laughed at the KFC comment....even gave it a funny icon. No harm done. Me thinks you need to lighten up.

Don't expect to get much.
When they tell you how much it's worth, just for fun, pick out one of their high priced rings and ask them how much would they give you if you bought it today and brought it back tomorrow. You can buy a ring at one jewlers and take it straight to another and it will appraise about a third or less than what you just gave. Jewelry is a big time rip off. May be best to find a new one like yours to get a price idea and then advertize it for less and make someone a good bargain.

I would suggest that you pick a jeweler to have it appraised, even if you have to pay them a little to do it. I would tell them that you just want an honest appraisal and they will not have the opportunity to purchase it. That way their appraisal should be pretty legit and should remove any temptation that might arise to under appraise it if they think they can buy it. Not saying folks are dishonest - just a way to keep the honest people honest.

Used car dealers do the same thing. Your trade in is junk and their cars are gold. Just laugh at them and walk unless your desperate. I genuinely hate car sales men. Bought a gold 20 gram chain at American Pawn for 315.00 a deal they said, but local pawn shops will only offer 200 cash, so they can make a hundred dollar profit. With gold reaching 1,400 for a 32gram ounce you just devide it by two and figure the gold is worth that much, and the jewlery part of it is really worthless only to the buyer. This site will give you the spot price and the formulia is easy. http://www.blanchardonline.com/lp/price-of-go...

Gold is a little over $1200 an ounce. An ounce contains 31.1 grams. The amount that someone will pay you depends on several things such as:
1) Are there any diamonds?
2) Are there some worthless stones included in the weight (i.e. a class ring)?
3) Is the gold 10K, 14K, 18K, etc.?
4) Does the stamp or hallmark look legitimate?
5) Is the seller willing to have it tested (which may scratch the piece a little)?
6) the current spot price
7) Does the piece have resale value or is it scrap (such as a broken necklace)?
