Could anyone who has completed the LPN program at KTC (or an individual who personally knows someone who has), give me an opinion on the class? And also, after completion what their new employers opinions seemed to be towards hiring an individual who attended there. Thanks in advance for any advice you can share!

I graduated from there several years ago. Love it! I had Bodine and Irvin as instructors they were awesome! I can tell you that now when I interview people, I will hire a KTC grad over a PJC grad anyday of the week. They have skills coming out of LVN/LPN school that PJC "doesnt have time to teach". Amazing to me that any so called nursing program doesnt have time to teach LPN/LVNs basic IV skills. If I were you I would apply to KTC and NTCC in Mt Pleasant and say to hell with the idiots at PJC. Linda Utley is THE only instructor I have ever heard good things about. One good instructor in the whole program?? Do you want to take a chance with those odds?? Good luck.

I graduated from KTC a couple years ago. It was the best thing I ever did. I also worked at the hospital in Paris and seen PJC students rotate through and listened to other nurses comments about how KTC nursing students are way more prepared. It is because the instructors take pride in the school and they push you until you know it or you fail! Which makes you VERY prepared when you graduate. So Good Luck to you ! It's a great school of you want a good education!

My daughter graduated from there in '01. The best 9 months she ever invested. A lot of money (from $17 to $38/hr) for hanging in there and going through a lot of personal problems all the while. I'm proud of her that she stuck with it. She would recommend it to anyone. She said she has been told by employers that they would rather have someone from KTC than PJC. If you don't get in, you don't give up, because a lot of the students will quit and they will let others in.

Thanks for the responses!:) I will be starting the program next month and am very excited! Has anyone completed the program at Hugo and then gone to PJC to become a R.N.? If so, I would really appreciate any input on how that transition went for you personally?

All I have to say is go right back and get your RN. I have heard too many people say they are going to wait a year or two and end up not go back. Nursing classes are not easy and they take up a lot of your life so be ready for all night and weekend study. It is so worth it in the long run.
