The old abandonded shriners place in Paris on Washington Street is spooky. If you want to test things out, go there at night and just walk up to the front door and knock three times and just stand there. You will get so spooked out that you will never make it for very long standing there in the dark and you will run back to your car knowing only a fool would do that again. Later in the night afterwards, I felt like someone was in the room watching me sleep. I had a really hard time falling asleep with that creepy spirit in the room with me. It didn't seem to want anything more than to mess with me in my twilight moments. It seemed to think that it was funny that I kept waking up startled every few seconds.

Also check out the old mill by the biker bar and the old apartments by the junior college.

It has been about 20 years since I have been here,(aging myself here) but, it is an old Hospital that was used as an Insane Asylum , I cannot remember where it is located, maybe someone on the site will remember, because it is an interesting place to see!Not only because I and everyone that was with me thinks the place is haunted, but also for the history that is at that place...the way the mentally challenged people were treated was awful, they were chained to the wall, the chains were still there!! by their ankles and their wrist, in a building set far away from the house so noone could hear them scream out. People say you can still hear them scream to this day. The 2 story house was in pretty bad shape , I didn't go in, but you could see the elaborate stair case from the front door, it had to be a grand house in it's day, I would love to know who owned and operated that place! I do remember that the place was kind of out in the country side. We were out there in the dark, with flash lights, just kids ckecking out the haunted house, lol.
So, if anyone out there knows of this place, blog it down plz!

Loke all spook stories, the asylum was a BS myth. Yes there was a building and it was just two or three miles south of the Sulphur River bridge (Lake Creek area) and it was the first hospital in Delta County - nothing more, nothing less. I went in it around 1975. I had heard all the tales and also noticed how they got bigger and more detailed with each telling but again thats how all this stories get started and how they keep going. The place was torn down in the (I think) mid to late 80's. Some place in or around cooper has some items that belonged to the Doctor that started it.

Not sure were talking about the same place them, but we may be then, did you see the conjcrete out buiding? I did, we lit up the inside of it and the chains and the hand and ankle cuffs were still attached to it. I don't rem. us having to drive that far to see the place. Yeah it would have to have been in the late 70's early 80-81 when we went there, can't rem exact date. Can you rem the docs name? Will try to google it see if I can come up with anything.

"DanialisOnFire"Foun d This In Google-Paris–Gated House off of FM 195–Scores of people report seeing a small boy crying in the corner of his supposed room of the very large house. The House resembles an evil watcher of its woods, standing upright looking out over the moon. Some claim to see wheelchairs creeping across rooms.Contains large amount of missing boards.Paris–Old Plantation home in Slate Shoals. Most people get a bad feeling just looking at this house because of the way that it seems to just stare at you when you see it and you feel like someone is watching you.People report seeing a woman in the attic and hearing strange sounds. It has also been reported that you can see the wheelchair move across the room.If you look down into the well on the corner of the kitchen in the front of the house you can see a reflection and this may be the son of the slave master. Out back there are eleven cabins,on one side there are six and on the other there are five and if you go to the middle cabin, known as cabin number five, on the side with only five cabins you may hear screams.Cabin number five is where it is believed that some of the slave girls were raped and killed.

If it is the same building, a few of us found it one night running around. It was two stories with a basement. We used to go in there all of the time. The first time we went in, there was an old gurney and wheel chair in it. There was also a set of shackles on the wall. Over time they were taken. It had a big staircase in it. I heard it was torn down and best that I can remember, the lake is covering the area now. Cool to find some info on it.

Address of the old hospital is 750 west Washington street, paris, Texas. Old vacant building, but it is still standing and flowers still bloom every April and may.

I visited this place in the early 2000's when I was still in high school. It was burned down several years ago.

I never saw the cabins. Just an old well in the yard. It was day time and the place was just old and dusty. Someone had gone in and smeared animal blood everywhere. You can tell it was an amazing house in its day. I believe it was 3 stories, but I never made it to the second. As I made my way to the second floor using the main staircase, you could tell the wood was old and not safe to trust. There was another very small and narrow staircase off the kitchen area, but I was dark and I didn't dare. You get that creeped out feeling. I really wish it were still around. I would go check it out in a heart beat as an adult. I just thought I was brave as a teen.

I can guarantee that the old house on 8th street across from the nursing home is haunted. There are 2 houses. Both have been redone and are beautiful, but haunted as hell. I've seen the man that wonders in the one directly across the street that is recently remodeled. You only see him from the corner of your eye and you will always get chill bumps.

The plantation home in Slate Shoals was just that - the Womack plantation owned by Henry Marshall Womack Sr. The wheelchair belonged to his wife. It was a glorious place In Its day. It has long since been burned to the ground by tresspassers in the night. I am marroed to Henry Marshall Womack III.
