The history of radio in Paris has always been this ongoing cycle....

Good radio station plays lots of rock & kids (old and young) love it. Then advertisers complain and the station turns to "soft rock" or "oldies" or mix".
Resist the cycle KMMY and ROCK ON. I love this station. I can't afford to advertise as an individual, but I can tell the places I do business with that they need to advertise on KMMY if they want me to hear the ad. I don't love every single thing you play, but I love the variety with the the harder edge. I love that you play modern pop rock and not just "classic rock." BTW, I love K95.5 too I just wish it would throw in a little folk music occassionally. 93.9 will never have me as a listener since they never stopped playing Dixie Chicks music.
101.9 lost me for good when they went to a canned morning show, way back with Booray and Joceyln. I like to hear local and current events in the mornings as I'm going to work.

Rock on.

ps. Thrown in "Werewolves in London" occasionally so the youngsters know where Kid Rock stole his song.

Was one of the first posts to mention that Paris needs to hang on for a better signal. Well it's been six months. Hurry up and get the static issues resolved.

It's irrelevant that the music is good if you can't hear it over the static.

as was mentioned previously their signal is fine... East Texas Broadcasting (KOYN, KBUS, KPLT) is using 96.3 to try to block them out of Paris. Why don't you blame the people responsible?

Jammin, can you explain why all the data on the FCC webpage indicates that 96.3 in Paris was applied for in 2004 (call letter last assigned on 6/17/04) while My Rock KMMY was assigned call letters on 4/12/06. Thus, it appears that E-String Wireless, the listed owner of 96.3 in Paris was on the books BEFORE KMMY was, so unless you can prove otherwise, I think what you are saying is unfair. Now, the only other thought is that the frequency for KMMY might have been announced as available for applications before 96.3 was applied for, but I didn't find that info.

SO, before you say someone is attempting to block one station, you should be sure to see who applied for their station first.

By the way, I have worked in broadcasting for a number of years, but I do not work for E-String Wireless, East Texas Broadcasting or Will Paynes company.

It's not the date, its the legal allowance for signal strength. A Translator is never to interfere with a full power station. They have overmodulated their signal to block it out. You should not be able to pick up a translator on any other frequency due to its low power.

My rock is ok, but I think Chad Lindsey sucks. I've seen him at crosswire a few times, and the guy is so into himself! Yeah, Yeah we know you're on the radio dude, but it's PARIS, TX not DALLAS or anything. Get over yourself!

I disagree. Chad is a very open and honest guy who is very passionate about what he does. Nice change. Finally someone who cares about what people want to hear on the radio and takes pride in what he does. I think he represents My Rock very professionally and is a breath of fresh air to this stale area.

I was in Paris this past weekend, and I heard 96.5 almost perfectly from Wright City, OK almost all the way to COMMERCE, TX!!! I did have moments of static in-between, but very minimal, even driving through the streets of Paris.

ROCK ON 96.5!!!

Thank you, "jealous much"! "whatever", whoever you are, sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way. If you see me again say hi. I'll buy you a drink and maybe I can try for a better second impression. Yes, it's Paris radio. I've never tried to be on the air anywhere else. I have turned down offers from different markets to stay here. I love this area, and I can't thank Will Payne enough for the opportunity to help improve radio in our area. You guys all rock! We're the #1 rock station now, and we have some awesome plans in the works to thank you for that. Your feedback, positive or otherwise, is always appreciated.

Jammin, those that were trying to say originally that the KPLT AM to FM translator was built specifically to block KMMY is what I was really referring to. KPLT's application came before KMMY, so how could it be that the purpose was to block them. If they are not in compliance with technical rules of their license, then they should be reported in my opinion.

No, not built to block them out. They just overmodulated the signal to block them out. When kmmy was first on they were fine, then suddenly country started bleeding over. Dirty, dirty tricks. I've personally already reported them to the FCC. So have many of my friends. kbus had their chance, they need to either try to compete or get out of the way!
