People have to drug test for jobs...they want employment, they submit a test. Lots of people in poverty apply for jobs and test So its only those in poverty who dont apply for jobs who feel their 4th amendment is being violated. I feel that when people are down and out... government assistance is there to help. If this assistance has been your main source of income for your adult life then I believe you will have to test just like any other citizen works for a living.

You are missing the point. Of course we want them to straighten up feed the kids and clean the house.. But what happens when CPS leaves? They trash it out and sell the foodstamps all over again. They look presentable long enough to get CPS off their backs and then they go back to being shitty parents! If they showed up unannounced this crap wouldn't happen now would it? They'd be caught in their every day life dirty as can be no food for the kids and drugs laying around everywhere.

Cps is a hard job and the caseworkers are expected to be able to detect all those Andrea Yates and Dena Sloshers out there...Many times the caseworkers have to walk away with a sick feeling in the pit of their stomachs afraid for these children because these parents are protected by civil rights. Children cant be removed on a gut feeling, there has to be substantial evidence, something that can convince a court of law that cps was justified in making the decision to remove. These caseworkers have hearts and souls...and no amount of money or status can ever be worth the pain and tragedy these workers face daily. There is no pain greater than that of a hurt child calling out for their momma....no matter how bleak things are at home, these babies still love their parents. And believe it or not, those parents love their children in the only way they know how.
Caseworkers work long hours, miss precious time with their own children, spent many sleepless nights and cried hundreds of times with heavy hearts over the horrible things people do.
Amen to you. I was a case worker and your words are true. If only people knew what we see ...it is truly heart breaking!

CPS is a joke around here. While they aren't spending the time investigating cases that need their attention they have investigated me because my two daughters were fighting with each other. Even after it was determined that I wasn't abusing them and was doing everything in my power to keep it from happening, I still have an open case but they haven't followed through in the 3 months since this happened.

According to the state website for CPS it states that false reports are prosecuted.. but I have had a false allegations against me by a vindictive relative recently and even though it is proven 100% beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were blatantly lying in the tip the CPS office says they can't do anything.. The case workers in Paris.. i should go ahead and say.. MOST.. not all.. in my opinion.. are pieces of crap that should NEVER have a social work job of ANY kind.. I'm sure the others are good people just doing what they feel is right though.
On another note.. does anyone know why CPS gives out warnings that they are coming to investigate? I have a trashy cousin who keeps a filthy house too unsanitary for young kids and everytime somebody reports her to CPS they leave a note on her door that says they will be coming back at a certain day and time and she cleans up the house and buys food.. then after they leave she goes right back to leaving dirty dishes and clothes laying everywhere.. seems as if they would want to suprise people and get a more accurate representation of the habits of the accused??
thats weird i thought you could leave anon. tips?

The judge is the one who makes the decision to allow visitation, supervised or not. It's a blessing that hers is supervised. Children want to see and know their mother/father, even though they'd been abusive in the past, IN SOME CASES. The bond is still there and it's not uncommon for them to go back to live with the abusive parent after they age out. Hard to understand why, but that's the way some minds work.

Hopefully by the time they get that old, they'll see the reality of the way things were and are and decide to stay away from her.

To WOW;
What do you want to hear from CPS? You say that you were investigated for your two daughters fighting. Was someone injured? Did you stop the injuring? Who should stop it? What do you want to hear from CPS? Everybody knows that all CPS workers are gettin rich from that good George Wright payoff money. Those parents that pay off CPS to forget their case are a great source of income.

If CPS shows up, more than once, how are they going to make contact with the family, except by note? How many times should they make an unannounced visit? Who's going to pay for all those trips? With a working case load of 20-40 at any one time, hjow much time should the "dirty house" require? Seeing the larger picture of bad child abuse, how important is the dirty house, if that is the only problem?
Do you think that CPS sorkers are getting rich from the payoffs? Did you know that CPS workers have not gotten raises in several years?

I want to know how the CPS payoff system works. Is there a set rate, or do I negotiate with each worker? Is a sexual abuse worth more than a dirty house? How do the workers split that money with those above them, who approve of "forgetting" a case? Is there a split for the judge? Prosecutors? Attorneys? CASA also has to be paid off. Whew! That must be some good money, and lots of it.

If the supervision is by a competent, intelligent adult, no emotional abuse can occur, or at least it can be explained to the children before and after the visit. The children still love their mother, no matter her problems. 5 hour visit per week supervised visit is humane for mother and children.

Overall, yes CPS sucks, all do all government agencies.

You are correct. I turned a situation of this in December to Adult Protective Services in Oklahoma. When APS, did not do their job, I turned them over to the District Attorney. The situation has been resolved, much to my relief.

Lets drug test all those who apply for government assistance...then when they test positive, they can just be walked right down the hall to cps...then cps can just ride on over to the house with the parents and check out the home. Sounds like a solution to me.

You are not considering doing what the previous poster said. If his idea was implemented, it would save a lot of money and abuse.

CPS is a joke period. Thankfully, they were sued in Oklahoma because they kept returning children to bad foster care homes, and the child was killed. Big settlement paid out last week.

Wouldn't be surprised if those same people approved for foster care in the future. Hopefully, they will be placed in prison for a long time. It happens all the time, again and again, same people.

Anyone that is not guilty, should not feel threatened with a visit or investigation from CPS. If you are not abusing, or letting your children get out of hand abusing each other, there is no worry about a case being open 3 months or forever. Someone, obviously thought you were not taking care of your children properly, and was able to provide substansive proof, or CPS would not have taken the time to investigate.

When I reported abuse, someone else had reported it a few months before I found out and reported it. So watch p's & q's because hopefully, someone else will care enough to report you, if you are not taking minimal proper care of your children. The fact that it has been reported before, makes a stronger case for removing your children to a safe environment.

Kudos to people that care enough to take the time to make reports.
