If you don't sing country -- forget it.

I know one of the judges who told me there are some sad examples of people who've been told they can sing. This judge isn't a fan of "today's country", so the above poster is not necessarily right.

When and where is it? Don't know much about it. Is there an age limit or requirement?

I saw quite a few people that could sing out there, that didn't get chosen. I understand it is a tough decision though to pick three people out of over twenty, but there were a couple that dominated to me over some of the ones that did get chosen.

I am new to the area (kinda) and have only been to the fair here once (and loved it). Is that the "final" for Paris Idol? How many auditions do they have and do they have eliminations, etc.? Would love to know the process so that when I see the finals I will know. Thanks in advance for the info

It's not rigged. The judges have score sheets with several categories to rate from 1-5, with 5 being the highest. Categories such as "song fits the artist" and "voice pitch control, on-key" and "audience participation" and "interacted with the audience and entertained them." If someone you think had a better voice than others, it just means the judges didn't think so - and their scores showed it.

I was one of the finalists from the first prelim.

I moved here 3 months ago, and believe me, it's not rigged. The only people I knew were three people from my church who came to watch me last Saturday. I know hardly anyone in this town.

However, with that said, the judging was probably very close. In my judgment, I thought a couple of the girls deserved to go on. Don't remember names, but one was a North Lamar cheerleader who sang "Stay." The other was the bigger middle-aged lady who sang "Stormy Monday."

The nice thing is that they at least give everyone a chance to audition again in later prelims.

My main gripe as a performer was that there were no stage monitors. The sound guy made everyone's voice disproportionately loud to their tracks. One of the main speakers was turned toward the performers slightly, which, to me anyway, was blowing my ears out.

I hope they have a better setup for the finals.

I am one of the finalist from Prelim 1. I found this site because I was looking to see if there was any coverage for Paris Idol.

I am not from Paris or anywhere near it. I live 2 hrs away. I have family that livese near the Paris area. This was my mothers doing. So if this was rigged, they messed up somewhere because I am a complete unknown to your area.

I was the last one called that day. I figured they were not going to call me because I just knew the guy who sang Drift Away was going to make it. Especially since I spent all night at a Rangers game and was hoarse.

These things are meant to be fun. If you can't lose and walk away with your head high, you need to find another business. For every 1 time I place or win, I lose 5.

I truly enjoyed myself the other day. I met some wonderfully talented people. I wish Tony would write for me.

I think the radio station did a wonderful job with organizing the event. I want to thank them for letting me be part of it.

Can't wait to see you all back at the finals!

Thanks to press above. I live very close to Lewisville.
