I'm an an employee at a local store and I'm so damn tired of men conning in the store all dressed up in mall" close and driving fancy cars using their woman's"" lonestar cards. They buy candy, chips cokes, mostly. The woman do the same when they come in too. They don't buy anything nutritional at all. It's just ridiculous, I think they SHOULD limit what they are aloud to purchase!!

LoneStar cards aren't just for women, they are for anyone. If you see a man using it for candy then it's the "Food Stamp" program which they get up to 110 dollars per person who signed up for the family. I think this program is so corrupt. The man could have so many kids and they count also which is more money on the card for "food" nutritious or not. If it's a food item that isn't "ready to eat" it can be purchased on the card..That's how they can go to Papa Murphy's and get pizza with it.

However..

The women's (and baby) version of the loan star card is "WIC" and they have specific items they can purchase. If it isn't on the card, they can't get it. Usually it's only 2 gal of milk, 1 lb of cheese, 2 gals of juice...it's very specific and you can only buy healthy items and are limited.

Oh I apologize, I'm educating society and it tends to offend people.

no please do, the reason why I put men" on here is I've seen the woman sitting out in that fancy car while she sends him in for snacks. He's more than likely working or doing some" kind of hussle while she collects from the state. I remember years ago when I myself was on food stamps the DHS office thoroughly questioned who lives with you, why you drive this kinda car, and how much it's worth, and so on. And they would even drive by your house to see who's car was there, why now is it so different but the fraud is so much worse? They need to do something!

If a company fleet gas card can be set up to prevent an employee fro buying chips and a coke, then why can't the Lone Star Card?

Answer: Large snackfood corporations (Lance, Sara Lee, Lays, etc.) through their lobbying arm, the Snack Food Association and it's political action committee have lobbied Congress to keep these foods on the acceptable list. Now the same restaurant association Cain was head of is lobbying to have restaurant foods added.

What the HELL are you talking about? WIC isn't the "women's version of food stamps", it's a supplemental nutrition program for pregnant or nursing mothers, infants, or children under 5. It's set up like that because it's just extra nutrition. Most people get on WIC for the assistance with paying for the baby's formula. Far as the LoneStar card goes? Y'all shouldn't be bothered by what people get on them. People are given a fixed amount depending on their income (or lack thereof). It's not like they have a card for limitless food. It's based on individual need. When it runs out, it runs out. It's not like they go to the magical LoneStar fairy who will refill it. Why should it matter if they eat 5 bowls of rice a day or 5 candy bars a day? It's not your business. A candy bar doesn't spend any different tax dollars than a bowl of rice. Mind your own business.

my family is on lonestar. I get our months orth of groceries at first ofmonth, then let my husband keep the card with him so he can get lunch at work.. usually a sandwich from the fdeli, bag of chips and a coke. We have, on occasion, goten junk food, but not often. It makes me mad that soo many people abuse the system.. but just wanted to point out it's not ALL men.. just some of them.. the fridge in the breakroom at hubby's work is known to be raided by others.. so he can't put a lunch from home in it.. just sayin..

Wrong. Uncooked rice is non-taxable, a candy bar is taxable. So, oddly enough, these people buying junk are paying taxes.

Why does it have to be men that look bad when they use their card?I know a lot of men that are single dads and they really need the help, just because they buy chips etc. doesnt mean they are abusing the system it just means that they do not make good food choices. There are alot of women that claim all these children and get almot 900 dollars a month and dont even take care of them they have their parents or family members take care of them they are the ones abusing the system when some ppl actually NEED HELP buying food!!!!!!!!!!

If you can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em. We need to do away with all the food stamp program. Have food banks with ONLY nonperishable, nutritional foods. No cokes, no candy, no chips, no fast foods, no expensive foods. This is money that I worked hard for that is being used to support the irresponsible.

Let's see much of this post is lies.

Most people that get on wic, get everything you listed not just formula.

Should be bother by what people get on them? Lazy bums, most. They get free food, more than I spend on myself a month. Now if they were given a card to buy seeds to grow food, I'd feel much better about the situation. They don't have to buy food so they get a little money, what do they buy? Rims, pumping stereo, iproducts, booze, weed, all the things I get to do without unless I make some more money to get taxed to pay for those BUMS.

It is like the magical lonestar fairy brings them an xmas present every month. They don't have to pay for it. Two things too, first, buying at a convenience store, twice the price. Second, when they run out, the kids run out of real food because their parents fluffed it off for crap luxuries.

Whether they eat 5 candy bars or 5 bowls of rice determines if they are hungry in the next hour.

Where my tax dollars gets spend is my business.

Obviously you are a active member of the lonestar screw the taxpayer club or you work at that gov office giving out the cards and your job depends on it or your kids are all on the lonestar magical fairy plan.

Apparently, your name says it all. Why does the "WIC" card say "Lone Star" on them and why do they get it for free? It's a women's and baby's version of it. It is nutritious for the mothers and babies that need help. I guess you didn't read what I posted. I wasn't bashing on them.

Also, it is my business, that's where my tax dollars is going and I don't appreciate that going toward junk food. I don't want my tax dollars making people fat. At least, for WIC, you can't lie on it because you have to have the baby with you at all visits.

I think the Food Stamp program is corrupt because you can lie on it and get more money put on the card. They can lie on their income because they just have to have one person's pay stub and tell them your spouse or whoever that is living with you doesn't work. You can add roommates that don't really live with you. It is a fixed amount (yes), but it is an outrageous amount. They never go out and check your house and they get away with it. At least it's not as bad as the Welfare program....but I digress.

you have to get WIC at the health department. you get food stamps at the Department of Human Services. One might tell you about the other sure, but they are different programs.

I was agreeing with everyone until this post. I hope you didn't jinx yourself. Not everyone getting this is irresponsible. God forbid you ever become legitimately disabled. I worked hard for my money too but life took a drastic change and now, with humiliation, I have to ask for help. Not everyone getting help is "breeding em"

Don't be silly. Seeds to grow food? Shall we give them vouchers for livestock so they can raise their own meat too? You know as well as I do that's just not practical. There used to be limitations on the kinds of food you could get with food stamps, & it's true, these days they can get anything in the grocery store with the Lone Star card except for hot food or alcohol. I want to say I remember this was changed because so many people were stuck in places where they couldn't get out to a regular grocery store, so they sort of had to be more lenient. In any event, we truly are the most spolied nation in the world. Our homeless people live better than the richest people in some third world countries. It's sad, it's self serving, and it's a priveledge. Just like being able to pay tax dollars & still having a roof over your head my friend.
