Has anyone seen the Christmas Light Show South East of the Loop 286?....We just happened up on it tonight and it's very beautiful.
It looks sorta like the one that was behind Paris Ford last year.

Yea the guy was in Home Depot buying boxes uncrated of lights, and his mother said he likes to out do everyone. Sometimes less is more. Some guy up north actually put Santa's reindeer strung up to be gutted in his trees and the neighbors were appalled. I believe it is a side show to some who have those awful looking LED florescent lights that glare at you just like the blue head lighted cars. I've always wondered what they would do if you put a large image of Buddha all lite up in your yard. Because this has about as much to do with the birth of Christ as the bible has to do with the Dallas phone book. Didn't they make some comedy Griswald shows about excessive lights. That is just how funny it is, and I bet they love taking all that mess down and storing it or 11 months. I did see one that was funny where Santa was on the roof measuring the chimney and one of the Reindeer was about to measure his ass. Yea it was x rated but funny and could be took 2 ways.

Is it actually on South Loop 286 or do you have to turn off the loop on another road? Thank you!

The guy south of town is a different guy: you said he was at Home Depot with his mom? The guy doing the show with music does it in memory of his mom, who he lost to cancer last year. He donates what is collected from people who drive by to cancer research.

This is a three way intersection with traffic coming by on one road at 60 mph. So please be careful with your little ones if you stop to see the lights or donate. One woman stopped in the middle of the road with no lights on at the stop sign off the loop and I almost hit her. I am glad to see the Paris Police out in force for the holidays. Also I would like to ask is it ok to park in the fire lane in front of Krogers and Wall Marts. Some police ignore this but others shake their finger at you to move out of the lane. I ususally stop by the mailbox at wall mart and pretend I'm mailing a letter if they come by. Handy Capp tags will do no good because their simple are not enough handicap parking spots to start with. Is everyone in Paris Handicapped to the point of not being able to walk. I've been in other Wall Marts around the area and you don't see all the power chairs you see here. I do defend those who actually need them, but I've even seen young kids riding threw the store in them as if it was an amusement park ride.

You don't ride "threw" anything. You ride "THROUGH" it.

Also, this town is eaten up with lazy people that will get a handicap sign for their cars for the least little thing. It is daunting, the number of people in this town that are handicapped in shopping areas, yet can climb ladders, play golf, walk the PJC track and Trail de Paris. I just laugh when I discover one of these flagrant abuses of the handicap system.

Also.....you should be ashamed of yourself for "pretending to be mailing a letter" when they catch you in the fire lane! You are no better than the ones you are chastising on here. Sounds a bit hypocritical to me....

Even though I know it is greatly abused, don't be too hard on those who use handicap tags with no visible disability. I know a lady who has a chronic condition causing pain and fatigue. She can do most things in moderation, but she quickly tires to the point she can barely walk. She told me she is fine when she gets to Wal-Mart, but by the time she has finished her shopping, she can barely make it to the car. And you will find her at the Trail 'de Paris -- on doctor's orders. She knows how far she can walk from her car and be able to make it back. She also does a little yardwork -- but only a little at a time with frequent rest breaks.

I know very well the abuses as they happen. I understand underlying conditions and so forth. I also know the overt misuse of the privileges.
