He was probably wise to decline an interview with eparisextra and the PN. Two things stand out in the article. Any person that could put together an open records request for "credit and debit card transactions, including copies of any and all credit and/or debit card receipts, statements, slips, transaction reports or any document which in any way tends to identify the date, involved merchant, item(s) and/or service(s) purchased and identity of the person using said credit or debit card or authorizing or requesting said transaction”is far from senile. It sounds like he covered everything needed.
"PEDC Director Steve Gilbert said...I don’t know what the agenda is behind that. We work very hard to be transparent. There is nothing we’ve done that I’m embarrassed about or not able to defend. We’re publicly funded. We understand that."
So there you have it. Let the rest of the information be exposed. Nothing to be embarrassed about or that SG is not able to defend. In that case, Tuesday will be a regular day and SG can use all of his energy to work on bringing new industry to Paris and glow in the satisfaction of having done a good job. Paris citizens can look forward to growth and prosperity.

I never said he was senile. The man's obviously got a fair number of brain cells rolling around in there. That doesn't mean he's above a witch hunt.

Not true...he will talk to the Paris News after the presentation to the PEDC on Tuesday. He refused to talk to eparis because the Wilson Family is involved in the ownership.

Let's see how senile he is. He is more than snatch for Gilbert.

I guess you missed the title of this thread "Senile Old Man vs.Paris News and Clique." Labeling an inquiry into a governmental entity records and questioning suspicious expenditures is not a witch hunt.

As everyone should know, Pinky controls what eParis says since it is his son's media. Clique determines what is and is not printed. For a few minutes eParis had a letter from the Subway owner who was not in favor of paying Retail Attractions to bring competition to Paris in the form of other restaurants. Within 20 minutes it disappeared. I heard he was told to keep his mouth shut or he would be run out of town. The clique has been threatening others as well. I feel sure that the clique controlled Paris News and eParis will not fairly cover anything the old man has to say.

Was that snatch? Was it paid for on the credit card by PEDC?

The senile old man can take on Gilbert, Frierson, and Pinky any day of the week. He is a very accomplished businessman who was the top dog in the building of the space shuttle. This won't even be a fair match.

Appreciate the help, have been working on the wording of my own FOIA. Well thought out and in depth. I'm sure his and Mrs. Cliffor's presentation Monday night will be the same. Man this could get deep and go several lines in with regarding as to who may be leaving our PEDC employment.

That was on Judge Clifford's credit card.

That is true enough. However, if the mayor's randomized presentation is any indication (not to mention Strathern's general dislike of Gilbert), they're doing this first and foremost to go after Gilbert. I think any concern about the PEDC itself is secondary.

Yep. SG inherited this mess from GW Bush. Can't fix it in one term. Probably gonna need another hat.

He will be wise to not talk to the PN ever. The publisher and his staff writers have already attempted to discredit the mayor through writing only half of what takes place at the meetings. That is,only that which sounds advantageous to PEDC and friends. Interesting that The Wilson Family is involved in the PN ownership .That too huh?

Do you know that to be a fact or is it speculation on your part?

I would be willing to bet that "The old Man" did not feel that
E Paris extra is a valid news source and would only be willing to respond to an inquiry from a legitimate news source.

Actually, The Paris News is a corporate-owned entity belonging to Southern Newspapers Inc. out of Galveston.

Apparently the "senile old man" got his message out. My friends went and just told me that between him and the Clifford lady, they showed how much money the Gilbart fellow had been blowing and using creative accounting to do it. That guy has got to go. They said it was shown that the Paris economic people spend more money than any other like sized towns around. Boy why has those old boards let this go on and on.
