Who has the best food in Paris? I'll be working here for at least a year. I read about the best Bar-B-Q, and best Mexican. I will try out your suggestions no doubt. So, can I get some help with these questions?
Who has the best chicken fried steak?
Who has the best fried catfish, other than the Fish Fry. Their steaks were good tho.
Who has the best "home cooked meals"?
Who has the best buffet?
Who has the best Italian?
Who has the best Pizza, other than Dominos?
Who has the best Chinese?
Is the Japanese place good?
Any other place deliver other than Dominos?
Where is your favorite place to eat, and what do you order?
I work 12 hr. days, and I look forward to some good food, since I'm too tired to cook most of the time.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Okay, here goes....Capizzi's is really good, but you CANNOT beat the Itailian Bistro in Clarksville. It's a 30 mile drive but WELL worth it. They are from Italy and literally handmake everything!!! Even the pasta is handmade!! SO GOOOD!!! Popeye's has the best fried chicken and they also have shrimp and other Louisiana type food. Don's Catfish Dock out in Powderly has the best catfish and crab's legs! How come no one has mentioned Sirloin Stockade? They're actually not bad and they're all you can eat along with other food. They also do all you can eat breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and it's really good! Pizza Inn is one of my favorites and they have a lunch buffet during the week. Tamolly's is good even though they get a lot of bashing on here. I'm not a fan of Magel's personally. They don't impress me at all! DON'T EAT AT DENNY'S!!!!! 24th ST Cafe has homemade stuff and they're on Collegiate now(just moved) right off of Lamar Ave by Lamar National Bank! Roadhouse family diner over on N. Main by the bowling alley is really good and not bad prices and portions either! Other than that, it's just a bunch of fast food unless you want to go to Hugo or Sherman. As for the singles scene, if you're into bowling, that's always an option. I also recommend you go to Laser Tag while you're in. It's a blast and you will definately get a workout!!!!!

Sorry that you will be stuck in Paris. Many of the people are nice, things are cheap, no traffic and it is peaceful. So those are good things. The trees are lovely and some of the older sections have lovely architecture if you like to drive or walk around.
Best home cookin' is South Main. Like Aunt Bee made it.
Best Shrimp is Fish Fry. So worth the crowds. The fried shrimp is good but the boiled is the best in town. Very fresh.
You will not find good Italian in Paris but Capizzi's is not half bad. China Star has a great Chinese buffet, be sure to try the fried biscuit. Surprisingly yummy.
The best greasy spoon is Burgerland. The fries are made fresh and the burgers are also freshly cooked as you wait. Be sure to get fried onions, too.
There is a great fish place called Gray's out in Arthur City. Think it is still open.
Best brownies are at Taco Delite! You heard that right and their fast mexican food is better than taco bell by a long shot.
Steaks-believe it or not but the best in town are at the Fish Fry! The quality is very good.
Best overall lunch-24th Street Cafe. The taco salad is salivating and made fresh every morning. The chicken club sandwich is made with fresh picked chickena and not imitated ANYWHERE. I have tried to get something similar out of town, no luck.
Best bbq is so personal but some like Phil's stuffed baked potato. Their bbq is fine too. Really best to just try all the places until you find what you like on that one.
Best sandwich/salad lunch: Texas Belle. Be sure to try their yummy frozen fruit salad.
Best Strawberry Pie:Sandwiches Etc if it is still open.
Anyone know where the best of other flavors of pie are? Something besides just chocolate pie?? I struggle to find good pie in Paris and really don't want to make it everytime I need pie. There are those times when a person does need pie!

Best Pizza--by far Papa Murphy's. Although you have to cook it yourself. I love the fact that you see it being made. Plus it takes less than 20 minutes to cook once you are home!

Best Italian--Capizzi's is the only one left isn't it. Godfather's was good, but messed up when they changed.

Mexican--The one that I like is La Belle Airosa by Turner Pipe. It's quiet, clean and cheaper than Taco Bell, but real food.

Steaks and Chicken Fried Steak--Borderline Cafe in Powderly. Good service, very homey and mountains of food.

Best place for "fast" food--that would be the Dairy Queen in Powderly. It is very clean and should be the poster restaurant for all other DQs.

Another pie they used to serve and may still is banana caramel. It's wonderful. You can make your own but it takes a while to do it. You take a can of unopened eagle brand milk and boil it for about 2 hours.(turns to caramel) Bake your pie crust and have it cooled. Cut up bananas in the bottom of the pie crust , pour milk, now caramel, on top of the bananas and top with cool whip. Chill for a couple of hours or so until the caramel sets up.

Just a fair warning about Roadhouse, smoking is required. They do have a "non-smoking section" but it is at the very back and just because you are not smoking does not mean that the room will not be filled with it. However if you like the smell and flavor of smoke, this is your place.

At Roadhouse, I don't understand why you have to walk through the smoking section to get to the non-smoking section. BUT...I'm not uptight and picky about it. I don't like to whine and cry about smoke. Yea, it stinks, boo hoo.....it's worth it for a Chicken Fried Steak as big as the plate, real mashed potatoes, and a giant roll...with sweet tea! The service is always done with a smile (during lunch hour), and they are FAST! During lunch there isn't much smoking going on....most people are stuffing their faces and getting back to work.

Nancy's is off of N. Main and Graham Street. The address is 329 N. Main. If you go down N. Main take a right on Graham and a right at the very next street (I think it's 1st). You can't miss it.

You must not have been in Paris for a long, long while.
Gray's, Arthur City, has been closed for years. After Ruth passed, Joe's new wife's,(old girlfriend/mistress), attitude and 'supervising' or the lack there-of, the cafe, sunk it. Service and food was terrible, not to mention not being able to keep good waitresses.
For instance, after driving 20+m, we received half baked potato, tainted cole-slaw, and refried fish. Thought it was an isolated incident, NOT!! Not exactly the same scenario, but it happened again. When we sent the cole slaw back, asked for a salad, Joe's new wife, was very rude. It appears that ours was not an isolated case.
Gray's closed for awhile, then opened for the breakfast and lunch run, and it was much the same, it too, bit the dust.
Ruth made Gray's and when she left, Joe could not replace her in any form or fashion.

BTW, has anyone gone to the Cedar Shed since Don's Dock opened? They did serve some of the best steaks in this area.

Cedar Shed is in Hugo,#271 South. Just after you go under the underpass, not even a block, it's on the left side of the highway.
We've not been there for awhile, but the fish was excellent, only served on Friday nights and is/was usually packed out.
They have/had wonderful barbecue, also. Generous servings.

The atmosphere is great, decorated in nostalgic stuff such as old coca cola memorabilia. etc. Mary Feco is a collector of the items.

I think Magel's has the best chicken fried steak, and they have really good vegetables and I love the rolls. The service has gotten a lot better lately with the addition of a new waitress. Cute, dark-haired girl.
