just wondering

I was trying to decide where to take my little girl for cheer/gymnastics/tumbling activies. I have heard that Texas Tumbling does not turn on its air for their kids. Just wondering if anyone knew the truth? I don't want my kid going anywhere like that.

My daughter and my neice bouth go to 3TI. The Gandys are very caring when it comes to the kids. The air is on, but no it's not down on 55 or anything. Your kid(s) will have fun, will be taught and will probably break a sweet. They give the kids breaks and if the child doesn't feel right Encourange them to let the teacher know. My neice is a team member for compettion and my daughter is pre-team. I have no problems with 3TI for Tumbling and Cheer. It is your choice. I agree call and talk to Lisa or Bill Gandy. If they are not availble see if Annette is in, Annette can and will answer any question you may have.

The Gandy's are wonderful people. I can't believe that anyone would ever say anything negative about them. They are experienced, both are physical therapists and could obviously be making a LOT more money doing that line of work, but instead they choose to run the gym for the community. Their daughter (Sarah) is a World class gymnast & is an outstanding student and kid. That alone speaks volumes for the Gandy's. They have overcome many trials in their lives. Lisa had a stroke several years ago and had to learn to walk again. Truly fighters with the heart of champions.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Texas Tumbling. My kids LOVE to go there.

thanks for the info LISA!
It's just sad that you had to put something on here about yourself because nobody could think of anything nice to say about you. Now that's comical.

There is no doubt about the abilities of the Gandys. 3TI did not open for a cheer squad it came later. It was unfortunate the cheer program crumbled but the harsh reality of it all is that the parents did not like the way the program was going to be ran and left. I am sure that 3TI could have another squad if it were handled in a more consumer friendly manner. The sad fact is there is not a squad because of the lack of interest and that the TnT program is first priority. Best of luck to the Gandys and congrats to all the national champs. I am only upset that 3TI shunned some of their students and parents after years of participation and loyalty. It was not by choice to leave we felt forced because Lisa drew a line in the sand. It was their way or the highway is how it felt to us. But it is their business and they have that option.

My daughter attended both Power House & 3TI. As far as tumbling goes I would recommend P.H. Kim is a hard coach and is very hard on the kids when they get in competition, but she knows her stuff! Lisa is sweet to the kids, but isn't that great a coach. As far as cheer the trampolines do help with balance & things for stunting. I saw on here where there was a new cheer gym opening, you may want to check that out!! Don't know details on that, but I would prefer P.H. if I had my choice!!

"If" you had your choice? Why do you not have a choice? Are you being held against your will?

I don't guess I know what you are talking about..I thought they had 2 cheer teams there. One for the bigger girls and one for the younger ones?

Read this on the New Cheer Gym forum and this parent summed it up about the squads:There were cheer tryouts held at 3TI and a team chosen and a routine was taught and was presnted at the art fair this year. The squad had been formed. It was at the first parent meeting that 3TI handed the parents the packet explaining the program and the costs. I was there and looked around at everyones face when they were told about the new payment method and that starting in the coming months that almost 400 dollars would be deducted from there bank accounts every other month for three months to pay for the base cost of the program and there would be additonal cost throughout the cheer season. Nothing was said at that meeting by the parents and it took a couple of weeks to see a change and practice by practice girls left. I never realized the problem until it was apparent that the team had diminished. The option was an advanced tumbling class for the bigger girls because there was not enough for a squad. Sit and wait for them to get more girls from where? The first explanation I heard was that Powerhouse offered a cheaper priced program without a bank draft. Therefore they took some. Next there were just about four girls left and all were taking the advanced tumbling class. It was not until after the third week of no cheer squad that Monica was approached by another mom and it went from there. There was no sabotage or intent by anyone it was just a lack of communication and unfortunate. I was content with letting my child stay at 3TI and take a class and felt it would be OK to persue another chance at a new squad for my daughter. I never had any problems with Bill or Lisa at 3TI however my feelings were that there was no promise for a cheer squad at 3TI and that is what my daughter wanted to participate in. I went to Monica's practice and we decided to take a chance. At that point it was made apparent that we were no longer welcome at 3TI why I have no idea. My daughter was happy and loyal to 3TI.Had a team formed she would have loved to participate. The program fell apart and we went where a program was offered. There is no reason that these two programs cannot co exist but this will not happen as long as each party keeps worrying about the other. As the old saying goes do not cut your nose off to spite your face.

We recently had my child's birthday party at tx tumb. They gym was VERY hot and the doors were not open to allow air to circulate. The kids were ringing wet by the time we stopped for cake and presents. I love the Gandys but would not recommend this for birthday party in the summer.

i personally think monica at occ knows what she is doing better than 3ti and i honestly think that it is sad that lisa made it very apparent to the kids that were on occ that they were no longer welcome at 3TI. Espicailly the kids who were VERY loyal to them for years. The kids should get to choose where they cheer and tumble and they should be allowed to cheer for Monica and tumble for 3TI but 3TI lost girls. Honestly i think it is jealousy for 3TI that Occ is doing well and 3TI is not doing so great in cheer. Sorry if you disagree but im entitled to my opinion.

The Gandys have helped my daughter for years. They have not only taught her how to excel in the sport she loves, but also to be a good sport in the midst of adversity. We have not always agreed 100% with everything they have done, and they have not always agreed 100% with us either, but in a competitive sport that is always going to happen. What matters is results, and thanks to Lisa and Bill we have seen them. My family will always be thankful to them for the positive influence they have had on my daughter's life. Several posts have been about Monica and OCC, of which I know nothing really about, but that seems irrelevant on a thread about 3TI, which is about the Gandys and their gym. My hat goes off to them for their hard work and dedication.

Thank you Lisa and Bill for being the great people that you are!

My child goes to 3ti and we love it!I have never had a problem with Bill or Lisa or anyone else EXCEPT some of their summer help. And when I say a "problem" it really wasn't anything-just people not knowing what the heck was going on that day. However, I do have one complaint-Why DO they keep the gym so hot??? I mean, I understand to cool that big of a place, it would cost a lot, but I have been there for my child's activities and for birthday parties, and that gym is so hot you cannot breathe!!! My child has asthma and only has problems lately when in the gym. I still love the place and will keep going, I am just curious why they keep the darn place sooo hot!!! My hats off to Bill and Lisa and staff though! Wonderful place for my child!

If Lisa is so great and is all about the kids then why when the girls she supposedly cares about did not get so much as a kiss my butt or anything when the cheer program went to nothing. Never once did she try to help us understand or nor did she care. The impression we all got was Here it is girls take a tumbling class while I make sure the tNt girls get there practice and I will worry about you all when I feel like it that is exactly how it seemed to the most of us. Some of our girls were there for years and it apparently did not matter. The only nice thing I have heard about Lisa was from one parent that said she would not participate in bashing bill or lisa because it would not help her situation and it would only cause hard feelings. I know deep in my heart that her daughter was treated unfairly wish I could show her kind of restraint. With all that said Lisa flat did not care about none of the girls she hurt because they can not understand why she did not work to help them.
Not Fair

My daughter cheered at 3TI for four years, and during that time never once did I see Lisa treat anyone ugly or unfair. What I did see throughout the years we were there, were people treating the gym like an open door policy, where they came and went as they pleased, many times without paying their bills. I was amazed to see how many families left with money owed to the Gandys, simply because they didn't want to pay it, or because they felt justified because something happened to make them mad. These same families would then join other gyms and pay them money before they took care of their debt with the Gandys. That is not fair to them, yet the Gandys continued to run their gym and their program for the benefit of those that remained. Now people are bashing them as if they never cared about the program or the girls. I'm sorry for the problems that people experienced, but it's not fair to put it entirely on Lisa when there are so many other variables involved.
