DOJ to Florida: Don’t You Dare Clean Up Your Voter Rolls Posted on June 3, 2012 by Cowboy Byte A simple way to help prevent voter fraud and election abuse is for states to purge voter rolls. What does this mean? Getting rid of names on voter rolls of people ineligible to vote such as illegal aliens, dead people, duplicates, etc. For nearly a year, Florida election officials have asked the Department of Homeland Security for access to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement database in order to take illegal aliens and non-citizens off Florida voter rolls. Not surprisingly, DHS has been dragging its feet and has yet to comply with the request and now, the Department of Justice is stepping into the purging process and ordering Florida, a vital swing state, to stop. http://cowboybyte.com/8430/doj-to-florida-don...

Florida has filed a suit against the Justice Department for not supplying regulations they have been asking for, for months. Well done Florida.

If the democrats stance against cleaning up voter fraud doesn't force people to understand what they stand for, I don't know what will. Why would anyone fight against making sure only Americans vote? I can understand some discussions about "how" to determine this but it is obvious the dems want non-Americans to vote because they think they will get that vote. No American should vote for anyone that is not willing to stop the fraud that everyone knows is taking place. Unfortunately, the ones the fraud helps are the ones that are in charge right not.

It is all right to require that folks show an ID to drive, buy smokes or alcohol but not to vote. I don't see why the Dems object to it so much if they weren't complicit in perpetuating the fraud. The are 207,643,594 eligible voters in the U.S.(latest available #). Using your 0.004 percent of fraudulent votes (which if they are getting away with voting fraudulently, I don't see how you could actually have an acurate number there) that would be 830,574 fraudulent votes. You're really all right with that?!

You're really all right with that?! No, 0.004 percent of 207 million is 10800 votes. The percentage is what has been reported by election supervisors including republicans. As it is a felony to commit voter fraud or register fraudulently very few people bother to risk doing it. Now there is a tremendous amount of fraud on petition drives/ signatory drives but that is a separate issue. The objections to governor scoot's election year issue are being raised by election officials of both parties. If implemented the voter purge will result in far more legitimate voters having the franchise taken away then non legitimate voters being stopped. As I don't live in fl, this doesn't affect me. But this is the answer to the question of why the DOJ is involved

It's a terrible law and there are numerous groups against it. One of the reasons many of governor scoots ideas end up on satire shows is he is often worthy of satire.

http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/06/12/4... Here is the article where all 67 county supervisor of elections (including the 30 republicans) came out against the law. For the record, Rick Scott is not popular amongst Florida republicans. Look for hi to lose his next primary to someone like mark Rubio.

If they have the same name as someone not allowed to vote. Then there's plain old government clerical error. Funny how Republicans suddenly become fans of big government looking us up on databases when it suits them.

Ok, here we go http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/122... 180000 people will be stricken from the roles even though the majority of them are eligible us voters. As it is already a felony to register fraudulently governor Scott could easily increase prosecution if he feels there is significant voter fraud. It's not my opinion that his voter registration policies are flawed. And as a conservative I don't worry so much about the ACLU, democratic party and NAACP complaining, but all thirty Florida counties with republican supervisors of election ate against this.
