This is in regards to Lamar Point area of the lake.I want to know how many people who fish from the bank think the lake needs serious work? Now you can't even fish off the old boat ramp that is not usable for boats anymore because it is overgrown with trees and brush. In fact there isn't much you can do in this area because the Corps of Engineers will not clean it. We have no pier for fishing,no boat dock,no picnic tables,no lighting or running water and the swimming area is a disgrace and the restrooms are filthy!! Why do we not rate like the other side of the lake? They are kept up nice and clean. I would be willing to pay if they would clean this up and even put up a guard gate to keep vandals out. When my family moved here in 1980 it was so nice and wonderful and we enjoyed going down to the lake and taking the kids and fishing and cooking out but it is so nasty and unclean now that i don't even fish down there anymore. In fact i drive to another lake to fish where it is fun and clean. I just want the Corps of Engineers to get this cleaned up and make it enjoyable again like it used to be and if they don't i would like some answers as to why they don't??

I am glad that the corps is using good business sense: reinvesting fees in the areas that generate revenue. Lamar Point area does not generate enough money to support maintenance as you would like to see. Perhaps you could request permission to get a volunteer group to do the work?

How funny. You really would like to gate out all the Hispanic's who use that side of the lake. The parts of the lake that are kept nice charge for camping sites, and are used more because more people like the damm area. I really think the lake's number one purpose is for water use in Paris and it's industries, not recreation anyway. Hope you don't live within 5 miles of the lake because I sure don't want to drink your sewer sludge. Anyway were in a freg'n recession and money is extreamly tight now unlike it used to be. Things will probably get worse before they get better. Half of the road side stops have been plowed under and signs removed. Probably because lots of people use them to dump old tires, junk and put domestic household trash in the cans. I noticed after the fourth of July one year that the parks were solid trash from fireworks. No one picks up after themselves because for some reason people feel privledged or have grown up thinking someone else will always be there to do the dirty work. The times are a changing.
