The Sherman news at 6:00 told that he turned in front of a semi. I understood them to say it was Kenneth Gorley from Paris. They gave his age but I did not catch that.

I wonder if this is the same Gorley i know that used to come to our reunions and take all our photos? I hope it isn't. He was very nice.

It's not. But think about what you just said -- you hope it's somebody else -- don't you think that man's family is grieving for him just as much as the photographer's family would grieve for him?

I did not say i hope it was somebody else!! I said i hope it wasn't him. And the reason i said it was only because i knew him. But now i remember the man i was talking about is Marvin Gorley. Don't know if they are kin. If someone you thought you knew was in an accident what would you say? Some of us might not use the fancy talk you are used to i guess, but i didn't mean to imply that i was glad it wasn't him and someone else. I bet you NEVER said that before in your life if you heard about something that happened? Most people the first thing that comes out of their mouth is " I hope it wasn't someone i know" True or not??

Yes, Kenneth and Marvin are brothers. It has been tragic for this to have happen. May we keep their family in our prayers as Christmas will be especially hard for them this year.

We know a man died. You said you hoped it was not a particular man you know. If it's not him, then it HAS to be somebody else. So you are saying, "I hope it's somebody besides the man I know."

I'm not sure what I'd say if someone I knew was in an accident, but I know I wouldn't wish it on someone else. I'd probably grieve for my friend or relative, but I wouldn't think it would have been better if it had been someone else. Just because I don't know the victim doesn't mean it's better he died than someone I know. Either way, it's a tragedy.

So if you don't know how to express yourself, perhaps the best thing to say is nothing at all.

Thanks for the good answers, but boo on the wasted words. It's obvious none of you read the Paris News front page.

I only know of a Kenneth Lee Gorley who runs the very affordable tomb stone business on South Main Street. I'm sure it is not the same person. He did a wonderful job on my parents stones. I've always thought that Hwy 82 West was a dangerous road and needs to be a 4 way like it is from Honey Grove on to Sherman. I also think 271 North is dangerous. I heard on the police scanner tonight that there was a 3 car wreck with two helecopters on this Friday afternoon about 7pm. Just a lot more traffic than usual and people are driving what seems so fast these days.

Yes I just saw his picture in the obituary and his line of work. He was a really nice guy and had the best deals in town. He was referred in my time of grief by Fry and Gibbs because his prices were so good. I wish his family my condolences.

The wreck did not happen on hwy 82 it happened on 2216 past selfs and sash. The road to pj trailers or load trail. He had his right turn signal on but turned left instead into a semi.
