We use them for pigs ...we have never had any trouble out of them...we take all beef to porters in hugo though

At one time I used them alot but they were cited while back for letting game animals spoil. Im sure thats not the correct term but thats what it was and I was told this by a county official. He also said that you didnt know what animal you got back. It might be yours or maybe not. I still buy summer sausage out there from time to time but wont have anything processed there again.

I have been told by several ppl that the guy out toward sumner is very good and honest. Im not biased because as you see I cant even remember what his name. There is also a man in town that is a retired butcher that handles game and stuff, I was told by a man that took two deer to him and he was very pleased but dont know his name either. Sorry not much help.

Detriot used to charge extra to guarantee that you got your own deer back. Otherwise, it was anybodies guess. They also don't hang the deer there. Once the hooks are filled up, they just pile the carcasses on top of each other ON THE FLOOR!

I hope I can answer your questions and erase some of your doubts...First of all, I want to tell you that I am an employee of Detroit Processing.(1) I have been here for 20+ years. I also processed at two other grocery stores for 8 years prior to coming to Detroit Processing, so the 28 years experience should answer your first question.(2) When you bring your animal to check it in, we put a receipt tag on it when you give us your cutting order and we give you a copy, thus avoiding any confusion as to which animal is yours. When you've been in the meat industry as long as we've have, there's not a lot that we haven't heard--including people not getting their meat back or thinking they didn't get their meat back. As human beings, we have made our share of mistakes of not marking a box or tray for a customer, but never intentionally. We usually take full responsibility and personally deliver that person's meat (yes, we've even made deliveries all the way to Dallas).(3) People that feel they did not get all their meat back are usually not knowledgeable about the fat/lean/bone loss ratio. We do our best to explain it and when in doubt we will save you the bones and waste so you can take them home and weigh them.(4) We have a no hair policy ;) We are a Christian based establishment and we take pride in our work. If you feel you were wronged we try our best to make it right because we feel that it is our customers that have made us who we are today.

I use Cobbs processing in Sumner and couldnt be happier with his processing. They are very nice people and you will not be disappointed in there work. I would not use anyone else.
