I went to school out there when I was in high school and I hated it. I suffer from dyslexia and the teachers out there picked on me and called me a dummy because I could not read. I quit school because of it but have since been home schooled by my parents with the help of Scottish Rite. They are very cruel to students with learning disabilities and WILL NOT take the time to help you unless you are from a certain family. They also like to sweep problems with staff under the rug if they can. They have a long history of that kind of stuff.

It really doesn't make a difference which school you want to go to. To be able to attend Chsum, you have to live in the district. That can change a little when they get to Jr. High or High School because they will take a few transfers then but in the lower grades, you can forget it unless you are employed by the district. If you are trying to transfer, your child must not be a discipline problem at their current school and they must have passed all TAKS tests with at least a score of 2200 - 21oo is passing. Check it out and you will see that requirment of transfer requests. I would choose Paris over North Lamar also . The superintendent at North Lamar is a control freak and a complete JACKASS!
I just transferred my son there, you do not have to live in the district but make sure you turn all the paperwork for transfers in asap! or you'll never get in!

Chisum is ok if you want to settle for mediocrity. I would highly recommend Paris. They have far more opportunities available to them...also they have some of the best experienced teachers there. They do hands down have the best AP and Dual Credit Program around and work hand in hand with PJC...I know personally that there were students on graduation day that received their 2 year college degree along with their high school diploma.

Why should it matter what race the girl was dating? That is no one's business but her and her family's. If he called her family because of concerns of drug use then I could understand. You also said the word "rumored", unless YOU kow for a FACT then you need to keep your mouth shut! And even then it is not any of your or anyone else's business!

-I'm sure that Chisum has had it's fair share of scandal throughout it's lifetime, but I'm a firm believer that Chisum has changed for the better. I graduated last year, and I found the school to be excellent! I had a lot of opportunities, and I didn't notice anything "racial". I dated a black guy for awhile, and no one ever said anything about it. When we broke up, the teachers were shocked. They thought we were perfect together.
-The high school has a new principal. His name is Mr. Clint Miller. He is a wonderful person, a heavy disciplinarian who takes his job very seriously.
-The middle school was incredible for me. All of the teachers were fantastic. The librarian would go out of her way to get any book you wanted.
-I don't really remember elementary that well, but I know that I enjoyed it as well.
-My only problem with the school is that if you were "different" (like you were goth or punk- not black) Mr. Miller would watch you heavily... too heavily. But I'm sure he had his reasons for this. Just don't let your kid go to school with safety pins on his/her jeans ;)

I've never been to CHD, but I did attend Paris and would NOT recommend it.

Even if you are in the "elite" groups, it can still be very hard with the teachers they have. Its not a very good school and I would not rate their teaching skills suck!

I would highly recommend Paris. the teachers are the best, as are the facilities. NL is full of white rich kids and clicky. Chisum is rednecks...but if our son wants to get some from the teachers then its the place to be apparently.

We don't have any 'redneck trash and river rats', we sent them back to Garland where they belong.
