I've always been a courteous driver and will continue to be. As I said, if the driver in the left hand lane has stopped, I will too. Each time in this situation, I look beside me to make sure the turning lane into Mirabeau is clear also. The people in the car trying to get in are looking at me because they can't see that lane. When it's clear, I motion for them to go. I understand what you're saying but I pay close attention. I won't do this in the west bound lanes by Wal-Mart simply because there is more traffic and coming from that direction, they are hauling you know what! Actually, I can't say I do it anywhere else but Mirabeau.
You may be aware, but many drivers appear not to be, that the right turn lane that starts near Shogun and goes by the entrance to Mirabeau is a continuous lane all the way to the loop entrance. If someone that intends to turn right onto the loop, they may enter that lane even before the Mirabeau entrance. I have seen people doing just this and have to slam on their brakes because someone turning left into Mirabeau made an assumption that the right turn car would be slowing to turn in to Mirabeau. This causes even more possible problems when people are allowed to turn while you are waiting at that light. I just hope for your sake I never get a chance to tell you I told you so after someone gets hit when you are being friendly there.

So who was the "Law-abiding driver" here, obviously it was neither party involved. I seem to remember reading that you were, oh excuse me I mean your "FRIEND" was speeding,,,,in a dangerous low light situation no less. What it really sounds like to me is that you were, oh there I go again I mean your "FRIEND" was an arrogant d!¢k head to the wrong person.
Sorry for your confusion. Driving at night is not a "dangerous low light situation" (except when there are reckless drivers in your vicinity). Driving on the shoulder at night can be dangerous. And the statement about "law abiding citizens" is a generalization about the times I observe tailgaters when the speed limit IS being obeyed, not about the specific incident where both drivers were admittedly speeding.

This goes for ALL speeders huh? Apparently your word is law too? Get off the cross man (or woman)!
Get off your high horse mister! I don't make the law, but I do respect them and abide by them. You should try it someday! I saw you again last week on your way to the courthouse and surprise, surprise, you were speeding again.

No, I'm not stalking you. You only wish you had a stalker. No, for the record, a few days after I initially saw you speeding through town I passed the courthouse. Guess who's car I saw? Then later that week, I saw your car again at the courthouse. I am not stupid and I put 2 & 2 together. The morning I saw you heading towards the courthouse, I assumed you were going to work.

I actually think it is quite hilarious to see you, still speeding, in town. Now that everyone can point out who you are. I just hope that a policeman sees you. I would LOVE to be driving by you one day and see you pulled over. I will be laughing all the way home!!!! KARMA!!

Well, since I have to drive by the courthouse everyday on my way to work, it's makes sense that I would see your car. And I noticed that you parked on the other side today. Brilliant!

People do not seem to realize that at the stop light on the exit ramp from northbound Loop 286 to Highway 82 is one lane. I have seen people pull up beside a car that is setting at that light. What if the car on the left decides to go straight across? Think, and observe the signs and stripes people.
Not only observe the stripe, but look at the sign by the light, there is only one line that shows it allowing ONE lane to go straight or turn left, not one lane of each.

I'm one of the ones who pulls to the right so that I can go straight across at the light. Or if I'm turning left on to Lamar, I stay to the left with my turn signal on so someone else can go across. That exit ramp isn't very long, and when it back up even a little bit, I've seen way too many big trucks take it too fast trying to get to the right turn yield sign, who end up locking up their brakes trying to stop. Seems like it wouldn't take much to just paint a stripe and a couple of arrows there to organize the whole thing.
The space available doesn't meet the criteria for two lanes or it would be marked as such. I don't care if you CAN get two cars in there, there isn't enough room to match the RULES of TXDOT. Either follow the rules and use one lane or suffer the consequences when your vehicle is damaged and you find yourself at fault for not following the rules.

Stop defined here: 541.401.10 http://law.onecle.com/texas/transportation/54...
These links don't say anything about a duty to allow space for people to turn into a private driveway or business entrance.

True for Texas and many other states, guess a state that doesn't have a front plate - OKLAHOMA!

If the people just stayed in the center of the lane it would back up twice as fast, less cars would get through during the SHORT cycle on that light( which seems to take for ever to turn green again) and less vehicles would even be able to turn right as the cars in single row would back up to the entry way to the off-ramp. It is not designed right for two lanes but it has become kind of a common-law type deal and seems to work all right for everyone. How many people follow the exact procedure on a 4 way stop? Not many but people seem to work it out through common courtesy and the traffic gets by.
If you are going to just agree to break the law because "everyone does it" and it works, why have any laws at all?

Ha Ha! I didn't think you were hiding from me. That would just be stupid. But you should be hiding from the police. If ANY policeman reads this it will be very easy to find you. Then he/she can just follow you and pull you over. After all, that is what you want, right?
