Sarah McKinley is my Woman of the Week. Don't come knocking if you don't want to go Davey Jones Locker.

Back Story: Two morons named Justin and Dustin went to Sarah's house on the day she buried her husband who had died from cancer.
They tried to break in to get 'em some and she gave one of them a load of buckshot to the head. The other ran away and was later charged with first degree murder in the death of his friend.

Good job Sarah and that is why you are my Woman of the Week!

Read about her yesterday. While I admit I applaud her protecting herself and her baby, I thought I'd tell the REAL story.

Sarah, 18yrs old and widowed, shot and killed a man breaking into her home. The two men began beating on the door, she barricaded herself in with a sofa and called 911. She was told by the operater to use what ever force she need to to protect herself and her baby. Justin, 24yrs old, came through the door armed with a knife. She fired a shot, killing him. The young mom was taught to shoot by her husband, Kenneth, who died at the age of 58 from lung cancer. She had sold most of his guns to help pay for his funeral, but kept the weapon that killed Martin to pass onto her son.

His accomplice, 29-year-old Dustin, turned himself into the authorities and on Wednesday. It was him, rather than McKinley, who was charged with first-degree murder in relation to his friend's death.

"When you're engaged in a crime such as first-degree burglary and a death results from the events of that crime, you're subject to prosecution for it," Grady County Assistant District Attorney James Walters told the newspaper.

I understand that one was at the front door- the one who was killed- and the other was at the back door. They'd already been there a few days before, but she wouldn't open the door to them, so being the genuis they were, they come back on the day they had to have known she buried her husband and would probably be the easiest prey.
As I see it, she made someone else safer who may have come into those thugs sights later.

I said it on another thread, I'll say it here. GOOD FOR HER!! She did what she had to do to protect her baby. I was listening to a couple of talk DJ's that used to be in Dallas talk about it on their radio program via the internet. One of them stated that the guys planned to not only take the medicine but to also rape her. They played an interview someone did with her and she sounds very level headed and mature beyond her years.

The real story? Name one fact that I had wrong. I NEVER said McKinley was charged with anything as you wrongly suggest. Also, you state a weapon but in the 911 call she says she is holding TWO guns.

As far as you telling a story I don't think you did. What you did was copy and paste and try to hijack this post as your own.

I applaud her presence of mind to fire when she was threatened. It's so refreshing to hear of a person protecting themselves these days.

First of all, I did not try to "hijack" this post. I did copy and paste some of the facts because I couldn't say it any better. I'm sorry I didn't mention she was holding two guns, thought stating she SHOT & KILLED the intruder, you might get that she was holding a gun, rather than being unarmed or holding a knife, paintball gun, baseball bat, etc. Her husband was buried before the day of this incident. If you read the story carefully, you would have noticed that she met these "gentlemen" several days prier to this shooting when she was trying to sale items to help pay for her late husband's burial. As a later post said, they were not there to "get them some" (how old are you, 16?) they were there to steal her late husband's cancer medication and to RAPE her.

I want to say thank you to others who added facts to this story. When reading about a news story, I want all the facts. Not a romanticized version of it. I felt the whole story gave more details that made it much more interesting.

Another reason I added to this story! I thought it was interesting the age difference! After hearing how mature and well spoken she was, I had a different outlook on the age difference.
