<quoted text>As I stated earlier , I am not nor will I argye with you or anyone else on here fir that matter. I understand what you are saying and can even empathize with you about the family member situation if that is true. To let you see this site can be used for good I will share this with you. Anytime there is a motorcycle accident there are manyvof us that check this site. You are partly right in the sense that we know someone will mention the accident quickly. Using this we can find out who, where and how bad. Then we dwtermine if there is anything we can do or would we just be in the way at this point. By posting this today we found out in a very short time it was a group of bikes from out of town. We found out how ot happened, how bad the injury was, where be went and,,,,, there was absolutely nothing except for prayer that we could do. Anything else at this point would be just in the way.
Sometimes this is not the case. This summer there was an accident and within an hr of the mans arrival by helicopter there were friends at the hospital in Dallas to offer any assistance needed and try and offer comfort to the family. Now you may think this is silly and that is definitely your right. We on the other band have seen time and time again how help is so many times needed and many times its not there because everyone assumes someone else did it.
I mention no names, no clubs, no organizations because ww could care less about who gets credit. In the biker community there is many faults. We arent perfect and we dont profess to be but we do have a motto that we try hard to live by. we take care of our own.
I still don't know why you use Topix -- surely you could come up with a better means of communication. If the word on the details gets out as quickly as you said it did without posting it on Topix, why don't you use whatever network you're using for that to begin with? It just makes no sense to me that you post on Topix hoping all the bikers will just happen to log on about the time you post, and then you use another means to disseminate your information. I'm involved with an organization that takes care of its own as well -- we don't use Topix. We have an email group set up on Yahoo. We get accurate information out to about 400 people all at the same time, and we don't have to trust that they'll just happen to check Topix, and we don't have to put our private business out for the general public to see and speculate about.

Well first of all sitting by the scanner and reporting the facts is different right? It's not a fib when your reporting" the TRUTH YOU IDIOT! The scanner is as close to real" as your going to get. Just because someone on topix talks crap about your family or friends which may or may not be true is your personal problem. It has nothing to do with a TRUE accident!
And how many scanner reports have shown up on Topix that were wildly exaggerated or just plain wrong? Sometimes you don't always hear what you think you heard. Anyway, how do I know an anonymous source is a trustworthy one?

I can start a thread right now. "Just heard on the scanner -- major accident on the loop -- 8 car pile-up -- bodies on side of the road." How do you know I really heard that on the scanner? YOu don't, yet people will start going nuts trying to get all the gory details. Anyway, why do you think everybody has to know about an accident? The people who are trained and who take care of those accidents know the proper protocol for contacting relatives. Topix is not the place for relatives and friends to be informed. Topix is the place for snoopy ambulance chasers.

Do you think by you saying anything it's going to make us stop using topix???? Go pout in a corner somewhere. This topix has nothing to do with you or your white trash relatives.

Lol. Really? Well then that would be a lie. Usually when people hear things on the scanner and put it on here it's to let them know of a tragedy of some sort like for instances drunk drivers. I want to know myself if who and when one of these idiots are out on the road. You could be the next victim. If you wait and hear anything" from the Paris news I can promise you won't hear the truth but maybe bits and pieces. And my hearing is great thank you.

Well, if they've already had the accident, they're no longer on the road, are they? And if you don't think drunk drivers are everywhere, you're just a little naive. If you don't want to share the road with them, you better just never venture out. As far as waiting for the Paris News, why is it essential that I hear it at all other than morbid curiousity?

You misunderstand, or maybe I didnt make myself very clear. We dont use topix to spread it between ourselves. When we hear of an accident whether its sad, bad or good depends on how you look at it, we know one of us hear about the accident we can come here and get fast info on at least the vicinity and if it was serious. Im not being rude to anyone on here but past that we dont depend on much because so much is speculation. Like yesterday, I saw several highway patrols so come to topix. Within minuetes a post of bike wreck. I posted yes, ok but didnt see ambulances so must not be bad. Then yes , see careflight. At that point its phone calls between us thats why you didnt see me post what we learned. Its kind of like nascar. How many people watch 500 miles of racing because they want to see the race? How many people like nascar because the cars are cool and THE WRECKS ARE AWESOME. If wrecks are a persons deal Im not here to put them down for that. Thats on them. We are just not into that. Hope this helps explain why we do use this site and I appreciate your questions and comments and I see nothing out of the way at all in anything you've said so any problems between you and othe posters leaves me out. have a great day.

Well I for one don't like the 'scanner fanners' but I understand why you posted. Seeing the post yesterday gave me a reason to call my husband and make sure he made it safely to his destination on his bike, which he did. I didn't bother to follow the post, call a thousand people and ask nosey questions, or bash another for using the information in any other way. I did however use the info as I believe it was intended and was grateful someone was kind enough to post what would normally take hours and hours to find out elsewhere. However, I will mention that the only way I knew about the post was because of a very nosey coworker who has an extreme addiction to drama. Fortunately for me, her addiction to drama comforted me knowing I wasn't the wife about to get a visit or phone call from law enforcement. To each their own, however if you don't like the info or it doesn't pertain to you, simply walk away, or click away. Your attempts to question or bash someone make you sound like a complete idiot. Pray everyone is ok -- prayers extended -- pray for the family --

I seriously doubt those people are really concerned. Regarding the previous post -- I've never thought wrecks were awesome. There has to be something wrong with a mentality that does like them.

Think about what you said -- you knew about the wreck so you called your husband and that saved you hours of worry. If you hadn't known about the wreck, why would you have been worrying? As I see it, the posting on Topix caused you at least a few minutes of unneeded worry. Could have been more -- what if your husband's phone was malfunctioning and you couldn't reach him? Would you automatically have assumed that maybe he was involved?

I think you missed the point here. The point was that the original post had merit for the purpose in which it was intended. I was just letting the poster know that I appreciated spending the rest of my day in comfort knowing my husband was safe. Also that not everyone is out to use this info in a negative manner or make a huge useless ordeal over a simple statement.

If the original poster had not posted about the accident, why would you have been worried about your husband's safety? If you don't know that an accident has occurred, why would you all of a sudden be worried about a loved one?

My husband was the one careflighted into a trauma center. He is still with us, but broken ribs, tibia, bleed on brain etc. It will be a long road to recovery. For those of you who pray for the recovery of strangers God bless you. For any at the scene or calling emergency services, again my heartfelt thanks. For others, be careful what you say or do. It could be your beloved who endures the trauma. I hope for 37 more years with my best friend.

My husband is continuing to improve. From what we are told, there was a lady who showed up at the scene who was either a nurse or EMT. Her quick assessment of my husband's injuries brought the helicopter and quick assessment at a trauma unit.

If any of you know who this wonderful Good Samaritan was, please let us know. She made a huge difference that saved my husband's life. God bless those in the health care profession. You make a difference.
