What in the world does a man's (or woman's) sexuality have to do with being a principal? Do you think gay men are more likely to molest poor little boys at school? In my experience as a female in the PISD, the was the HETEROSEXUAL males that did the molesting, principals down to janitors.

just because a person is gay doesn't make them any more dangerous than a straight person. why would this even be an issue? why SHOULD it even be an issue? straight male teachers molest kids, yet it is ok for them to be in a classroom. just because he is gay doesn't make him a deviant.

Are you kidding? Has someone been let go of because they were gay??? ANYONE teaching my children should be hired based on ability and ability alone. Ability to teach, to have enough patience to endure, to teach our children acceptance and understanding and the ability to jump through the bureaucratic hoops necessary to make the experience successful for every child who comes through the doors. And I certainly hope that no teacher straight or gay is discussing their sexual preferences with my children.

Hey kids, are you sure it's because he is gay, or maybe this brought to light other activities.

Do not be so quick to jump to conclusions, I know you are excited about a new controversy, but settle down & let some facts come to light. Not everything is as it seems.

Also if any of you would like to play chess for some $$$ let me know so I can RE-Retire.

I don't think the district has much of a problem with him being gay...It's been a big open secret since he has been there. I have heard that the problem is that he used school computers to post things and on school time. Trust me from personal experience you'd rather have him for your childs principal than the one he replaced

Whew...it's been a wet day. Anyone got an extra boat..lol!
It's very difficult to get rid of a teacher, administrator/suprintendent/pr incipal, or anyone that has a signed contract. Unless there is other grounds, and it "must" be proven by indisputable facts, it's next to impossible.
Does anyone remember a certain school suprintendent in the Paris area. There was much proof of many things, like misappropriation of funds, sexual harassment etc, none was sufficient according to his contract, they had to buy the remainder of his term.

Just because he is gay may not be the reason he was put on leave. The ISD is not that stupid they know anyone would sue over something like that. Keep that in mind before you judge someone. There maybe a BIGGER side to this story.

the reports we have been getting, he is not being fired. he has been put on leave and has been asked to resign. they are hoping that the embarassment will force him out. he needs to know that we are all behind him. he is the best thing to happen to our school in a long time.

I just heard that in one of the blogs on his boyfriends blog that Mr Lilley took his boyfrind to a conference and the boyfriend stayed in the hotel that the school paid for. Also there were emails of him and his boyfriend comunicating via emails. Nothing off color, crude, or sexual. I'm trying to locate the blog site.

It must be nice to have so much extra time that you can nosey around in other peoples business. The 2 people who got this all started should be ashamed of themselves.

you are right about that. there probably is more to the story, but the question was should the fact he is gay be a problem for him to be a principal. i was just replying to the question as written.

Let it rest. Leave Jon alone. He is great at what he does. He is an asset to that school. I know he loves his Jon. All this has been such a big mess. He is a great father, great son, and friend. His personal life has nothing to do with his ability to do his job. It is proven to be one of the best school in Texas all due to Jon Lilley.

I think Jon is a nice guybut the things that were posted on the site got him. I pray he can regain his position if the things said are not true. If they are true he doesn't need to be around children. By the way, if you go to that website, you will not find everything that was said. The school officials printed the original, so he has some explaining to do. The person that wrote should have the nuts to come to Paris and apologize to everyone that it affected. He won't though.

I don't know all about this except the accusations that he is gay, etc. Are you saying that he was accused of some inappropriate conduct with kids or websites? That's probably what got him fired.
