As a fast food worker, I deserve a bit of respect.

Hello fellow Parisites(I say it with love). I am one of the many who serve you food on a regular basis. Every single day, I wake up, take care of my 2 little boys and my husband, then I prepare myself to go to work, not know the craziness that ensues.
I get to work, I prepare your food (pizza, I work at Pizza Hut on Clarksville for those who are gonna wanna know), and try my best to ensure quality food with quality service in a fast manner as fit to your needs. I try my best everyday because I am at work and surprisingly I love the job I have and most of the people I meet through my job.

With that being said, what have I possibly done to ya'll, people whom I do not know nor do they know me, to make you just assume you are above me and better? At least I have a job. I am just like you. i have kids, a family, a car payment and rent. I have diapers to buy and food to purchase to feed my family. I work at least forty hours a week to make my ends meet. I give a smile when you complain and I am truly sorry for any kind of mistake we may have made to make your visit unpleasant. But what kind of person has to shout at me over the counter when I am obviously short-handed on help and trying to tend to more than one persons need? I am just like you. I am no less of a person than your local banker, pharmicist, teacher, or insurance agent. JUST because I have to wear a simple uniform of a shirt and a hat to work everyday and just because I have to prepare food, be it pizza or a burger, does not mean I am an animal. I have my high school degree. I am of average intelligence. I am not a dog and do not deserve to be treated as such. All I want is as much respect as I give you when you come through my door. That's it. even though I wait on tables at Pizza Hut, can you just give me a bit of the respect I deserve as a human being? I think I'm worth it. I think we're all worth it.

'Kindess. Pass it on.'
'Respect. Pass it on.'

We've seen the commercials. Why not lay the foundation for a better life today and every chance you get? I do with random acts of kindness evrey single day.

Too bad so many people are not taught the basic skills of life such as : Respecting others, controlling their temper, going an extra mile to be kind or polite. Oh, no, we are an IN YOUR FACE society who wants to show what a BAD AZZ we are....to me it's kinda sad, and it shows our ignorance. Looking down on other people because their job description isn't on the same pay scale as ours is snobbery and arrogance....and it's truly shameful.

Yes, I agree with you! You are obviously a hard working mom and not just laying around waiting for the government to support you. And, yes, you do deserve respect. As to why some people are crude, ruse, abusive and ill mannered - well- therewill always be ignorant people like that, so dont let it bother you.:) They are probably unhappy with their own lfe and just a miseravle person to everybodt.
Thanks for doing a good job at Pizza Hut!!

I too appreciate hard-working courteous employees who do "the right thing" each day. You have to consider the source of the type people you are dealing with a lot of the time. Ignorant, trashy people who were never taught proper manners. Just know that they are making themselves look stupid by the way they treat others. It makes them feel important to belittle others, regardless of your occupation. Keep being how you are and remind yourself how they must feel about themselves to act the way they do!!

I just cant understand how some people can be so rude to someone else unprovoked. I wrote this the other day after one gentleman was handed his food before the cashier could get to him. She was taking an order, cashing someone out, and cutting pizzas at the same time, which we all do at one point or another(employees there)., he gets up to the counter and shes cutting pizzas and throwing stuff away and he yells, "hey!" at her over the counter and taps on it like shes a dog. She told him "wait a minue please sir" and kept doing what she did. On another occasion a waitress went and checked on her table to see if they needed refills, one woman didnt reply so she just assumed no, as it usually means that anyway. She filled the other womans cup and walked to the counter, woman following her with the cup. she gets behind the counter and turns around and sees the woman there. the woman drops her cup onto the counter and said here... and walked away. she picked up that cup and walked behind her out to the dining room and when the woman sat down she dropped the cup on the table and said, here. im not you f---ing dog. and walked away. i mean what provokes that kind of behavior? thats why i wrote this plea of please be a bit more courteous when dealing with food service people. because a lot of it is bogus.

if the actual event occured of the waitress returning the cup and doing what she did.. she sealed her own destiny for the day. I assure you if this did happen the customer went and told someone who went and told someone etc. one thing I've learned.. life is full of people who have never learned true manners. grin and bare it. its hard not to reach over and wanna squeeze the crap out of someone head because they treated you like dirt.. be the bigger person. just hope the next person who comes along is nicer. my children and I go to pizza hut often as a treat and we have NEVER had bad service. the girls in that location have always treated my kids like they were the only ones in the place and we always appreciate that. smile and kill them with kindness you will not be the ones looking like idiots. I appreciate fast food workers...we don't know how hard it is to stand all our shift and put up with nimrods all day...

A few years ago, it dawned on me, that there are a lot of hard working people in various fast food chains who almost NEVER are told by their customers : 1. Thank you 2. You have a nice smile 3. Your boss needs to know what a good job you are doing........etc, etc.
Because I finally started LOOKING at these folks as P E O P L E who struggle with everyday problems, just as we all do, I thought that maybe I could make a difference in someone's life for just a few moments ,and I started noticing SOMETHING that I could say to compliment them, or just to be extra nice to them. SOMETHING! OMG! Sometimes, it isn't easy to find that something, but it's worth the effort. You should see the huge smile on the face of the cashier at the window of some drive-thru, when I actually am NICE to them...or better yet, give them a dollar TIP. Do WE really NEED that dollar as much as someone else? NO, not all the time. I make it my practice to try to pay attention to these kinds of workers, as they catch sooo much crap day in and day out. It's NO WONDER they are crappy acting by the time we get there...look at what they have been putting up with!

What is really sad - is when I call and acknowledge someone at a business the manager/owner ALWAYS says - Gee thanks, I only ever hear the bad never the good -. My father in law had an experience last time he was in Paris - they were getting loaded the night before they were to leave and the alternator went out on his truck - my father in law is in his late 70's and can not do truck repairs - my hubby was out of town at his job and we were left to go to Auto-Zone at 9:00pm. The guys at A-Z reopened the store - looked at the truck - figured out it was the alternator, got the part and had someone they knew come to the parking lot of A-Z and changed the part out. I called the manager the next day and he really was amazed that I would take the time to call and just say THANK YOU! I know he appreciated the time I took - and all it took was a few minutes of my day. Be kind to everyone - we all started out doing jobs that were not the best in the world and many work their way up. Everyone deserves a smile - certainly wont hurt!
