Put me in charge ...

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese, and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza ..... get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings .... get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your home will be subject to inspections anytime, and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360 .... get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a government job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the common good.

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you say this would be demeaning and ruin their self esteem, consider that it wasn't that long ago when taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

Democracies only fault is in allowing greater numbers of people to vote who want to be rewarded for their mistakes. We should allow those who work and are educated professionals have 2 votes for every person who only rides the system.

totalitarian state: A new kind of government in the 20th century that exercised massive, direct control over virtually all the activities of its subjects; existed in Germany, Italy, and the Soviet Union.

No, actually we want people to take care of themselves, and quit having children that they can't even feed.

If you pay your own way, you can have whatever you can afford and live any way you can afford. No one deserves something for nothing.

In the 70's the people were so fed up with the constant rising of welfare, they went on the warpath. Black women were reproducing like 'rats,' simply for the enlarged welfare checks. The realization that this indiscriminate 'breeding' had to stop, the subject was finally put on the ballot. It won hands down, and the new law stated NO MORE WELFARE over six children. It should have been TWO children. Whoever wrote this article would definitely get my vote too..We need to dump the lawyers in politics, vote in people with cement in their backbones, and maybe something serious would be done with lowering welfare.

Oh yes, this all took place in California, back when we had politicians that were normal and listened to their constituents..Today we are burdened with Dumbocrats who listen to NO ONE! Except the Mafia of course. Ooops, I mean the Unions.

I doubt that California would vote now to limit the size of families on welfare. I'm surprised they haven't rescinded the law.

You should also have to be a taxpayer and a property owner. Also, a poll tax should be implemented.

Beautiful! Common sense governing should be the law. The clowns in Washington are a disgrace to the entire country. It's pathetic that we have to look to Op-Eds for reasonable solutions and not our leaders.

I like the idea that you have to be a taxpayer in order to vote. Since 47% of Americans pay NO tax, many getting refunds that are more than they paid in, it is a good idea!

Why should people that don't support our country, get a say? Wouldn't ever get past the dems, and the rinos, but I would support it.
