The Paris News states that Gunn was given two years in TDC and 10 years deferred after he gets out. The news stated that he was part of the rally with the black panthers. Say WHAT!!! I think the DA was extremely light on him, even though he is only 17. He knew what he was doing when he robbed that store. Was it because he was black and the DA was afraid to give him some real time for the real crime he committed?!!!!

Gunn pleads guilty on robbery charge

By Bill Hankins

Published November 20, 2008

One of three defendants in the Jan. 6 robbery of the Valero Food Fast in the 2800 block of N.E. Loop 286, changed his plea Wednesday and accepted a prison sentence for the crime.

Kerria Gunn will receive two years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and 10 years deferred probation once he is released from prison.

Two others arrested in that robbery, Nathan Fisher and Kenneth Hall, still are awaiting trials in the case.

Gunn, 17, was one of the subjects of a New Black Panther rally Monday at the Lamar County Courthouse.

Leaders of the rally contended the system of justice in Lamar County is flawed, and punishment is not meted out equally to blacks and whites.

Leaders of the rally urged the crowd to “present a presence” at Gunn’s trial.

Concerned Citizens for Racial Equality in Lamar County had watched Gunn’s case closely, partially because of his age and because he is black.

A jury panel was summoned and the selection process under way when Gunn decided to accept County and District Attorney Gary Young’s offer of two years prison time and 10 years deferred probation.

That probation will start when Gunn is released from prison.

In the early months of 2008, robbers hit the Valero Food Fast convenience store three times.

Police determined the robberies were not by the same people.

The case in which Gunn was charged is the first to reach the trial stage

I predict when he gets out in a few months (we all know 2 years doesn't really mean 2 years), he'll ultimately be up on a murder charge. You practice armed robbery, sooner or later one will go bad and it will become murder.

the alertness of a paris police department patrolman may have cleared up a series of armed robberies in paris. patrolman bob deere, spoted a 1994 pontiac firebird in the 24 block of north main wednesday.it matched the descrption given in an earlier armed robbery.Deere pulled the vehicle over for a defective brake light in the 1700 block of n. main st. The driver, kenneth dewayne hall, 17, was taken into custody because he did not have a driver's license. Two passengers,Kerria gunn, 17, and Nathan fisher, 17, also were arrested on warrants, according to police reports.A blue bandana that matched the description of one used in an armed robbery was found in Hall's jacket pocket. It was placed into evidence. After investigation, all three suspects were charged with aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity.Gunn also faces charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon. The arrests stem from an armed robbery a few hours earlier at food fast, 2880 ne loop 286, but assistant paris police chief bob hundley said it likely will clear up armed robberies over the holidays and one east cherry in which one victim was shot in the leg.Officers were called to food fast at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, after three armed gunmen came into the store and made off with a small amount of money from the cash register.Surveillance from the store's cameras showed the suspects, and patrol officers were able to get a description of the suspect vehicle.

Armed robbers struck the valero food fast convenience store at 2880 ne loop 286 early today, escaping with cash and some merchandise. The robbers hit shortly after 1:30 a.m.,taking an undisclosed amont of cash and various merchandise before fleeing into the darkness. The two suspects are described as african americans, possibly in their teens, short in height and with small builds.the case remains under investisation, paris police officer Matt Birch said."Birch said the robbery is just one of a rash of robbers that have hit local businesses in recent weeks.

Valero robbed again
By Bill Hankins
The Paris News
Published April 8, 2008A robbery duo struck Valero Food Fast convenience store in the 2800 block of NE Loop 286 for the third time in a month early today, taking an undetermined amount of cash and striking the clerk over the head with a weapon.
It was the third robbery since Feb. 26, and the second in a just over a week at the store.
The two bandits, described as young African Americans, perhaps teenagers, and small in size took an undetermined amount of cash just after 2:30 a.m. today.
"The clerk is going to be okay and is resting at home," store manager Shirley Meredith said.
Meredith said it appears to be the same two in all three robberies.
She said apparently no one saw them leave the store.
"They hit the clerk over the head apparently with a rifle," Meredith said.

that's crazy because when my brother broke in somewhere the DA was trying to give him 15 to 20 years.. guess they pick and choose who they want to try and prosecute. yes.. my brother deserved to serve time, but they should hold them all the same!!

I read her myspace blog and it looks like all three of her kids are having trouble. I think Mrs. King need to try something different with her kids. Her parenting plan obviously isn't working. Looks like a bunch of kids with no discipline or respect. If you act like a thug, guess what, you will be treated like a thug.
