My husband and I are thinking about joining the Elks Lodge but I seem to remember back in the fall some information on here about huge problems with the officers. Also heard there was some big dust up a couple of weeks ago with the band.

Any body remember the officer situtation. If the place is in turmoil don't want to join.
been there done that

If you like to hang out with lounge-lizard/ debutante wannabes looking for a new sugar daddy and drunks with no couth who drink so much they think they can dance, then it is the place for you.

I was not impressed and will never return.

Stop trying to stir up trouble. If you in fact are thinking about joining you have to have someone sponsor you and you would know all about any trouble out there.

Actually, I am not trying to stir up anything and I did not know someone had to sponsor someone for membership. The only thing that I know was something that I seemed to remember on here but could not remember what it was.

Have been to the Eagles a couple of times and we knew that was not the place for us.

Not everyone on here is "trying to stir up trouble". I have a legitimate question and don't want to go somewhere that is having trouble.

Thank you

If you already know it's not the place for you why are you asking? You have an answer, stay home.

Please read my post again, I said that the EAGLES was not the place for us. I don't know if the Elks is where we want to go that is why I am asking questions.

I should have known that I could not get an answer on this site. There always has to be a smart aleck reply and someone always seems to believe that someone is "trying to stir up trouble" and couldn't possibly have a legimate question.

Isn't that what you do at a club? I love to have a beverage and do some dancing. Oh and for the other person, the Elks Lodge is a great place to go and even carry your kids.

The Elks used to be a very nice place to go dine and dance. A bunch of low lifes took it over and now its just a club, not a benevolent organization doing good for the children. And yes, one of the trustees started some trouble with a band member who was there to play. He's always been a troublemaker who wants to cuss and fight right in front of the people who are there to dine. My suggestion is to wait until the National Elks Foundation gets tired of their ways and shuts them down and then maybe we will have a real Elks Lodge to go to again.

First of all, I am just a member. And THEY didn't get rid of Bob, he resigned because of their constant altercations with him and other members. His health had deteriorated because of the stress he was under. You obviously don't have a clue as to what went on out there. Unless you could walk in his shoes, then don't say something you know nothing about. I still go out there but it's obvious that it is not the same. It's just become a nightclub.

Go there a few times just to see if you like it. Every place has troubles and Paris is no different. Heck you never know, you may like it and be a positive influence there. We actually use to like it just quit going out much.*we were never members either*

Thanks for your answer without any negative comments. I failed to say in my original post that we haven't lived in Paris but a few months and we are looking for some where nice to go.

When we lived in the Ft. Worth area several years ago we were members of the Moose lodge. It was a really nice place and was hoping that either the Eagles or Elks would be the same.

Hmmmmm if you haven't lived here long you sure have heard alot. Don't believe everything you hear, the Elks is a wonderful place. The officers will roll over when it's found out they can't run the place.

I did say we have only lived here a few months but in order to be explicit we have lived in Paris for 10 months. I started reading Topix when I got here because where we moved from there was also a Topix. However, the topics on that site were not as negative and down right mean spirited as on this site.

I was trying to ask a legitimate question but I am finding that on this site it is impossible to get legitimate answers.
