Just wondered if anyone recalls a special teacher they had in elementary school. I recall my 2nd grade teacher more than any other and remember things about her. That was a LONG time ago too!!

Yes, I recall a couple of my elementary teachers. Those are the people that shapped my life, and why I am a teacher now. They did so much for me and went out of thier way to make my life better.

A computer is a little different from actual writing. I type something, I send it. I don't have time to spell check every thing! Plus it's okay, I am not a language arts teacher :)

Too many to name. Great teachers and coaches at Deport and Prairland during 78 to 82. Lots of good memories and lessons learned.

Mrs. Fowler at Thomas Justiss was my first grade teacher. I remember being so scared on my first day of school and she was terrific. She continued to shine the whole year. My gosh, has that been over 35 years? ugh.

Changing the time line quit a bit...attending Paris High in the early 80's my favorite teachers were Sandra Gifford....and most of all Frank Garza!

Mrs. Billie Smith at Bogata was my favorite elementary school teacher. I still see her at Wal-Mart in Paris sometimes.

This thread brings back memories...... Ms Roundtree had those pliers in her desk for pulling those loose baby teeth... Ms Foster would get those fingernails in your earlobe as she pulled you out into the hall for a session of right and wrong....The fire escape slide on the back of the building was always fun.

Scooter and JJ across the street at the store was also a good source of entertainment.

Mrs. King-1st grade
Mrs. Hill-2nd grade
Mrs. LaRoe-3rd grade
Mrs. Griffith-4th grade
Miss Skidmore (later Mrs. Ophelia Payne)-5th grade
Mr. Butch Burns-6th grade
kids today miss having a neighborhood schoolyard nearby. East Paris' lower field was a year-round gathering place for football and baseball pick-up games...especially scrub and 'flies and skinners'.

I only went to Aikin Elementary for two years, and I don't remember my teachers. When I got to Crockett I was fond of Coach Nutt & Coach Davis. Then in high school it was Chuck Brazile & Cecil Poole.

My favorite teachers were Coach Parker & Coach Allen. They were both history teachers. Coach Parker was 8th grade and Coach Allen was the 7th grade history teacher. I had never liked history, but Coach Allen made it real. He was a great teacher and he put everything into whatever he did. I am glad to see him back at NL as the high school principal. He is a very caring and good person.

Oh, I remember every single teacher I had from K-12 1984-1996 at North Lamar. I sent every single one of them a "Thank you" note when I graduated from College.(With the exception of a few who did not have a forwarding address at the admin building.) Teachers are such an under appreciated group of people. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!

the teacher that stands out to me the most......Mrs. Taubert from Justiss Elementary. I had her for 2nd grade in 1977-78. Wow that was a long time ago! but I remember how she really cared so much for us! There are other teachers that stand out too...but she was my favorite of all time!!!

One of the fun things about Fourth Ward was a hamburger and half pint of chocolate milk in the lunch room on Fridays. Every other day of the week was white milk, and Friday was the only day for hamburgers. It's amazing to me now how special something like that seemed as a child back then. Kids nowadays would laugh at that, which is part of what's gone wrong.
