Why can't they keep help there? I heard that Vickie is a witch. They have the now hiring sign out about every other day. Someone quits or gets fired and out comes the sign again

<quoted text>So just curious here, what kind of deal was made with the company that owned the new site? Do they get the old building and land in trade for the land the new building is going on? What is the plan for the old building? If what I heard was correct, the company that owns the old KMART building had that lot initially.
The Pickens own both. The old building is for sale or lease.

Clyde and Vickie Pickens own both lots.

Glad to hear that, but why the help wanted sign all the time? Do people quit, get fired or what? If you work there, then you know how often that sign is out. I know of people that have put in applications and said she was very rude to them. Maybe she just has that personality, but it's not helping her reputation if she cares. I'm sure she's a hard worker. I have heard that.

I'm sure they quit & get fired just like any other place. But yeah the help wanted sign is up a lot, with little change of faces. What I mean by that is... she let's the same people come and go, come and go. And YES she is rude, and No she doesn't care what u think about it. Her crap don't stink ya know!

First of all, unless you work for Vickie, don't judge her. She runs that place by herself. The managers there work very hard, but, it is WELL known that she is in control. You never see her standing around doing nothing. She fills most of the orders, and cleans the fryers herself. That lady is why it is the #1 or #2 Popeye's in the state and has been for MANY years.
As far as the new store is concerned, why would you NOT want your store to look fresh and up to date? Paris is a growing city just like any other. Her old building is 30 years old, and the cost of renovation is far too great to consider it. The new store is larger, and will have more seating because the new layout is more efficient. The kitchen area will be much more easily manageable. At least there is SOMEONE in this town who cares enough to improve for the community.

I used to work for Vickie and it is nice to see folks defending her. She is a wonderful persona nd a hard hard worker and she does not ask any of her employees is do anything that she has not done before. As for being hard to work for no she is not she just gives people that other employeers normally would not a chance to work and sometimes she is disappointed. She gives people a chance. A few years ago when I was there she had a handicapped lady cleaning the lobby someone that other folks would not have given a chance. I am pleased to see the new building going up. If you remember there used to be a steak house on that lot and I believe that was Clydes sister place!!!

I think that everyone NOT involved in Popeyes needs to just back off and quit talking about people and things you obviously know nothing about. The Pickens' own both lots and buildings for the time beeing and the old one is for sale or lease,( it's posted on the window of the drive-thru for you people that can't read). It would cost too much to re-do the old building to the standard for the new look that Popeyes has, plus, it would have called for closing down for the time to tear down and re-build on that lot. This would have meant putting people out of work. Common sense dictates that if you have a succussful business for 30 years , you keep it where it is ( or as close as possible). As for working for Mrs. Pickens, if you are willing to work, show up when your supposed to , do your job , and are honest , you should have no problem working for her. Thats all she ask of anyone working for her. As for hiring and re-hiring the same people , sometimes it is more cost effective to hire someone that already knows the job than to hire someone new , spend time and money training , and then have that person quit because the work is too hard or they had to work week-ends. Some of you people discussing this have no idea what it takes to run a business , let-a-alone a successful one. Now I've had my say and I bid you all good-night. Thank You.
