IRRELEVANT POST wrote:
This post was simply started because certain people do not want Mr. Preston as principal. You DO NOT have to live where you work NOR is it unethical. Most residents in the DFW area live in suburbs & work either in Dallas, Fort Worth or a different suburb because their spouse works somewhere else. This is the most ignorant post or comments Iíve seen on Topix. This proves your sciolism & fatuity about this matter.
This isn't the DFW area and his spouse doesn't work in the Chisum school district.

Would you like to compare the DFW area school districts to Lamar County. Where we have more principals and administration than most areas with fewer then 5000 students in Lamar county? Irrelevant Post, suits you well!

While it is legally okay for Mr. Preston to live in another district , its a little unethical it seems. Sorta like Obama representing the U.S. and spending its taxpayers money vacationing in Europe and other countries. Kinda like the U.S. is not good enough for him
Wow! I never thought of that. When I went to Canada and then when I went to Germany, I was being unpatriotic. I'm so ashamed of myself!!

Gullibility Reigns,
It's so childish to say others are doing it too. If you insist. Ok, then you agree that others should not either. I agree with you. I wasn't aware that others are too. I'm sure they're following Preston's example. I'm sure other are saying "if Preston the principal of the largest school in our district can...why can't we do it too". Great point! Thanks for pointing that out. See, the bad leadership of Preston is being emulated already.
Someone pointed out today over lunch that they guessed Preston's children attend PISD. I don't know and do not care but if so, I'm sure it's because he is a leader/principal in the district and it would be odd for his children to attend another district when he is Principal at PISD. I agree and that would seem logical. Then that would raise the question as to why his same sentiments wouldn't apply to him residing in the district where he is employed.
I didn't say anything about agreeing with you. I only want to know why you're focused on one administrator. And you made my point -- this isn't about the practice, for if it were, you would have checked out the other administrators. It's about a specific person.

LOL! They all said -- Preston doesn't live in Paris, so I'm moving! I believe the principal in question has worked for PISD longer than Preston, and to my knowledge has never lived in the district.

I'll try to be as respectful with this as I can -- if you really don't have a personal grudge against Mr. Preston, the only other explanation is that you're a wackadoodle.

Wait a minute! What does it matter whether it's the DFW area or Podunk County? Isn't it the principle of the matter you're talking about? You seem to say so when you state that it would be the same thing as you buying products from your employer's competitor.

But if it's not the principle but the geography, why is it unethical in Lamar County but not in Dallas County?

You're not very bright, are you? It's ok. Just know your limitations. I'm guessing intellectually your fairly smart but seems common sense escapes you. Have you ever heard of "buy American products", "support your local economy" or "buy paris". What do you think those slogans mean? Are you paid 400k a year and a life time pension and does all your income come from the tax payers like our President? Then by all means go to Canada or Germany! I'm guessing most of Preston's income comes from PISD and the tax payer base so support your district like others do. You never addressed the fact that I'm sure his children attend PISD and that's ok but living in the district is another matter, right?

Like I origialnally said, you can find all kinds of extenuating circumstances to promote your WEAK argument! With your logic and your examples maybe Preston should start cheering for rival teams at sporting events because he is paid based on his job, not his location of residence or property taxes paid. Right? I'm sure it's not required by contract to only cheer for the Wildcats since it's not required to live in the district but in spirit that would be ridiculous and so in spirit is living outside PISD when they employ you.

If that is not apparent to you then no amount of explaining will make a difference. I am DONE!

So then Rick Perry can't take a vacation outside Texas without being unethical? And the City Manager can't take a vacation outside Paris without being unethical?

So if you have a government job, the taxpayers get to tell you where you may live and where it's ok for you to vacation?

I don't know where his children go to school. Is that relevant? It would make sense for them to go the district he lives in or Paris.

Cheering for opposing teams? You're not really serious, are you? Yes, he is paid based on his job which entails supporting the athletic and academic programs of Paris High School, and I'm sure that IS a part of his contract. He's not paid to pay taxes to PISD. You're talking about two entirely different issues. And if he wants to cheer for one of the PHS rivals when they're not playing against PHS, I don't see anything wrong with that.

I think this is the second time you've told me you're done -- maybe not, but I seem to remember you saying back several posts ago that if I wouldn't admit that Gary Preston paid no taxes to PISD you were ending the discussion. We'll see how long this one lasts -- LOL!

I can see logic in questioning his or any other leader's decisions and actions. As a pisd tax payer I'm not concerned with where he lives or where he pays taxes. I do know he's loyal to those kids. Mine graduated from there several years ago and she was a challenging student to say the least. Preston was a big part of helping her stay until she graduated. At the end of the day that's the most important thing a teacher or principal can do...support those kids. Not everybody has had the same positive experience with him as my daughter did. Maybe that's his fault. Maybe not. I know all school employees have hard jobs and I wouldn't want to trade with any of them. I'm probably one of the few people with anything good to say on this gossip site but I'm thankful that he was there for my kid and so is she. I bet there are others who agree but don't chime in because they don't want to be blasted by people who don't have anything better to do

You are crazy. What if you want some land, a farm, cattle, horses, etc? You can't have that inside the city limits. Just because you don't want to live 10 feet from your neighbor, doesn't mean you're unpatriotic. You are being unfair about all of this or just plain ignorant!!!

He should not be in this job after what he has done to this student Joquan Wallace. To manhandle a child and seems to cover it up is sick. He is just a bully and should be brought up on charges and should not be around children.

The Preston's have lived on that land for generations. He is in the country where he grew up, living close enough to care for his parents (who were also PISD employees) and help take care of his nephew. He can live wherever he chooses! Who in their right mind would live in town when they own beautiful acreage in the country? Stick to real issues, people!

You ask why doesn't he live in PISD.... Maybe he prefers a different area... Maybe he found a home he loved a lot and it happened to be outside the area... I know and work with several people who live more than 30-45 minutes from their job. BC it's just that a job... You will not work there forever.
