What's up with the Paris Burger King these days? The food is rarely right, the music is off sometimes, loud as hell at other times and in the evenings before close downright offensive in my opinion.

Anyone have any ideas?

You go to a place that serves cheap garbage food and you're surprised that the store is run like cheap garbage? Go a quarter mile down the road and buy some decent food at Walmart.

Cheap? hell, I pay over $6 for a double Whopper with cheese. The point isn't the food quality, the point is that I was already let down by the food prices going up while quality goes down. The fact that when i take my children in there to eat that I find myself faced with questions that a pre-teen shouldnt be asking in reference to the music and language they are hearing.

Thus far, i have heard music making mention of "undressing people", Sh*t, F*ck, Hookas and other drug related terms, heard the "N" word being talked by the Black folks behind the counter.. I'm, rather sick of it.. Its a restaurant for Christ's sake, not a frikken ghetto nightclub. I wont be going back, with kids or not.

If I didn't have better sense, I'd stalk into that place with a coupla Molotov Cocktails, set the dining area on fire, tell 'em all to GET THE HELL OUT, have some buddies out back to load up all the meat, bread, and produce, grab as many electronics & knives as we could carry, then toss a dynamite bomb in the kitchen before high-tailing it outta there.

Here is asome sample of what they play over the intercom speakers that I have heard lately:
MATT NATHANSON "Run"
[Verse 1 (Matt):]
I wanna watch you undress
I wanna watch you glow
Let your hair down
All around, cover us both
You come in a wave
We crash and we roll
You surround me, pull me, drown me, swallow me whole
[Chorus (Both):]
You turn, turn, turn, turning me on

Like a slow fire burn

Know that it's wrong

Still I run, run, run, run right into you

Yeah, I run, run, run, run right into you
[Verse 2 (Jennifer):]
You pull me in close

You buckle my knees

I shake and I shiver just to feel you breathe

You trace my lines

(You trace your lines)

Stirring my soul

Shoot sparks at the heart of the world and I watch it explode
(I watch you, I watch you)
[Chorus (Both):]
You turn, turn, turn, turning me on

Like a slow fire burn

Know that it's wrong

Still I run, run, run, run right into you

Yeah, I run, run, run, run right into you
[Hook:]
[Matt]
I’m amazing when you’re beside me
I am so much more
[Jennifer]
And I feel your fingers
Pound like thunder
I am so much more
[Matt]
So much more
[Chorus (Both):]
Turn, turn, turn, turning me on

Like a slow fire burn

Know that it's wrong

Still I run, run, run, run right into you

Yeah, I run, run, run, run right into you
Turn, turn, turn, turning me on

Like a slow fire burn

Know that it's wrong

Still I run, run, run, run right into you

Yeah, I run, run, run, run right into you
Still I run, run, run, run right back to you
[Jennifer]
Turning me on
[Matt]
Like a slow fire burn
sounds like porn to me

I know the Paris store pretty good, as i am (was) a regular customer. I know they use an XM radio station in the stores including Paris. The XM stereo is instructed by the District Manager (Alton) to be tuned to a station called the Pulse. Below is a programming schedule of the top 15 songs that have been broadcast by the Pulse and played in Burger King stores in this region. I wal also attach lyric excerpts for several of them songs. I will leave it up to others to decide what to do about this situation, as for myself, i will not take my kids into that store again until SOMEONE stops playing this crap in the dining room where children and moral people are dining.

Matchbox Twenty - She's So Mean

She’ll make you take her to the club, but then she leaves with her friends
She likes to stay late at the party cause the fun never ends
And all her clothes are on the floor, and all your records are scratched
She’s like a one-way ticket cause you can’t come back

Sayin’ yeah, and you want her
But she’s so mean
(You’ll never let her go, why don’t you let her go?)
Yeah, and you want her
But she’s so mean
(You’ll never let her go, why don’t you let her go?)

You kn-kn-know that if you don’t shut your mouth
She’ll freak out
You better get your shit together
Cause she’s bringing you down, now
Yeah, boy, you better, you better

Ok, im an adult here and my ears certainly aren't virgin, but seriously, who wants their kids hearing stuff like this at a Burger Restaurant?

I think it's a bit drastic, dontcha think?

I'm not here to bash BK, I personally like their food and the store in general but i recall a couple years back that i wouldnt eat there.
Since then, John Kostel seems to have made some good decisions and the store did a lot better. Now that Kostel is no longer the DM, and Alton is, i see things slipping back to the way they were when i wouldn't eat there previously.

In regards to the XM radio station, my brother in law was fired for unplugging the XM box and chunking it in the dumpster. He had complained to management (Katrina and others) regarding the music that was being broadcast in the dining room. He was fired for such, and frankly that's alright by me. But in my book, it was the straw that broke the camel's back. There was an incident about 3 months ago wheras a young male and young female drove up in a cab. They has an infant child with them and upon entering the store they both went straight back to the playground and the female began shouting obscenities.

The female struck the male several times with her fist, kicked him several times and basically screamed obscenities. The whole time this was going on, Katrina stood with the rest of the BK staff at the counter and did absolutely nothing. I was with my wife and 3 small children, they didnt need to hear that garbage and i don't expect BK to have bouncers but what i DID expect was for Katrina to do "the right thing" and call 911. It was obvious that the female was on a drug-induced rage and the infant was likely in danger.

I have heard first hand the racist comments and profanities coming from the staff, and i've had 9 burgers wrong on an 11 burger order. I have heard what they play on the radio and i stronly disagree with Alton's choice to play it. I don't think the situation should take any drastic moves whatsoever, however i do think that John Kostel should look into the store and consider either getting decent managment appointed to the store or re-instate himself as DM.

I simply wont go back until things improve, and there's a lot of people who seem to feel the same. I look forward to BK ironing it's problems out.

If the situation continues, the place will be close down in about a year. The fact that it has even gotten to this stage indicates lack of care or attention by the owner which may mean a lot of things posssibly: 1) He may be burned out and tired of it and already made enough to retire and he's ready to do so (meaning he may sell his franchise to a new owner) 2) he is preoccupied with other businesses and investments to the extent that he no longer keeps a close eye on the daily operations of this one 3) he could be going through a personal crisis (death or divorce) that has diverted his attention away temporarilly 4) he is on an extended vacation and is not keeping close tabs on the place. One of these 4 possibilities must be going on.

Well it was all that I could do to keep from crying.
Sometimes it seems so useless to remain.
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'.
You never even called me by my name.
You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings.
And you don't have to call me Charlie Pride.
And you don't have to call me Merle Haggard anymore,
Even though you're on my fightin' side.
And I'll hang around as long as you will let me.
And I never minded standing in the rain.
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'.
You never even called me by my name.
Well I've heard my name a few times in your phone book.
(Hello, Hello.)
And I've seen it on signs where I've played.
But the only time I know I'll hear David Allan Coe
Is when Jesus has his final Judgement Day.
So, I'll hang around as long as you will let me.
And I never minded standing in the rain.
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'.
You never even called me by my name.
(spoken:)
Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song,
and he told me it was the perfect country and western song.
I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was not the
perfect country and western song because he hadn't said
anything at all about momma, or trains, or trucks,
or prison or gettin' drunk. Well, he sat down and
wrote another verse to this song and he sent it to me and
after reading it I realized that my friend had written the
perfect country and western song. And I felt obliged to include
it on this album. The last verse goes like this here:
Well, I was drunk the day my momma got out of prison,
And I went to pick her up in the rain.-ac

Gee Gee and Abott Costell first built it in 1977 or 78. Working for the Paris News selling retail advertising I got to know them well. They were very nice people but expanded their chain of stores and have remodeled several times. For so many years it was the only place you could actually get a decent hamburger for 99c. I just feel that if the original poster doesn't like it now then there are so many other places to go. I really miss Furr's especially this Thanksgiving, and the one in Sulfur Springs is just hanging on. The Paris manager is now manager there. She said they lost 7 Furrs in one week. I do hope the economy gets better and inflation doesn't make it impossible to eat out ocassionally.
