Here's an odd but entertaining tribute to the final episode of House. I lost count of all the celebrity caricatures.

Hi Hayseed. I'll take the recommendation for meds under consideration.

Initially, what was on my mind was the fundamental resonate frequency of a given length bo staff and the second and third harmonic waveforms. And in that regard, how grasping at the points of amplitude minimum, or nodal positions, allow the staff to vibrate freely without inducing excessive shock to the person wielding the weapon. Or how by grasping at non-nodal points generate traveling waves down the length of the staff. It depends on the type of strike you want to make.

I was looking at martial staff and quarterstaff videos. Like this one demonstrating strikes.

Or this one demonstrating control.

But getting sidetracked on the internet is pretty easy. While looking at the staff videos, other videos of House came up with him and his cane. While watching those, I remembered that during the final episode of House (2 hour special), they show short clips of his antics with his cane. So I did a youtube search for "House final episode". The video that I ended up posting today was fourth on the list that came up. It caught my attention because it was a CGI type animation. It was bizarre to say the least, but I did enjoy all the celebrity animations, how their essence had been captured so well, and the music wasn't too bad either.

In the end, I considered how well other threads fare on Topix when thinking or actual conversation is involved, especially recently. Entropy immediately deteriorates any conversation into pointless verbal attacks. So I decided not to post my original B O R I N G thoughts, and instead posted the cartoon. That way no conversation need take place. Just juvenile entertainment. Sorry if the video warped a few minds out there.

Taking my deaf Aunt to the audiologist and finding out she is a good candidate for hearing aids. During the testing, when I saw my Aunt responding, the Doctor told me not to cry, or she (the doctor) would cry also. A very exciting, memorable experience, and I cried. Thank you God...

This vanity card came to mind because of the numerous discussions on topix regarding religion.

ASK CHUCK!

Dear Chuck,
At a recent dinner party, I found myself in an awkward situation when the host, a devout atheist, sneezed between spoonfuls of his gazpacho. Without thinking, I said, "God bless you." He gave me a withering look and said, as if to a child, "Golly gee, I sure hope he does." The other guests exploded with laughter, while I imploded with humiliation. To avoid future embarrassment, what is the correct response when an atheist sneezes?
Troubled with ahchoo

Dear Troubled,
First, a little background information. Saying "God bless you" following a sneeze is thought by some to have originated in the sixth century in order to protect the sneezer from falling ill to the bubonic plague. Another possible origin is that people once believed that the devil entered the body during a sneeze and saying "God bless you" could help ward him off. Since the plague has killed something like two hundred million people and the words "God bless you" have, in all likelihood, been said countless times to Glenn Beck, we can safely assume the phrase has no real power against germs or demonic possession. What it does contain is simple human courtesy -- a means by which we express concern for one another. As to how to respond to a sneezing atheist, well, that's easy. Simply say, "Sounds like you're coming down with something, I hope you don't die and rot in a box."
