We live in a free country and you vote for whomever you want.... but seriously... If you vote for this man. We should throw away out history books. I read this in a local newspaper
On NSC's Meet the press On Sunday, Sept 7, 2008 at 11:48 EST, Gen Bill Ginn, USAF (ret.) asked Barack Obama why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
The general also stated to the senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, That during rendition of the National Anthem when the American Flag is displayed, all present, except those in uniform, are expected to stand at attention, facing the flag, with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, "Stand and face it."
Dale Lindsborg of The Washington Post reported that on that Sunday morning last September, Obama stated:
"As I've about the flag pin, I dont want to be perceived as taking sides. There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American Flag is a symbol of oppression. And the Anthem itself conveys a war-like message: you know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less bellicose. I like the song" Id Like The World To Sing". If that were our Anthem, Then I might salute it.
"We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as redisign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It is my intention,if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East brethren. If we as a nation or warring people should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails, perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments,
When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a statue of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a nation have placed upon the Nations Of Islam an unfair justice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together, She and I have attended many flag-burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have Mine.
"Of course now, I have found myself about to become President Of The United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring change to this nation, and offer the people a path of new hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our country's First Family. Indeed, Change is about to overwhelm the Unites States of America"
Yes, Ladies and gentelman, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President. I, For one, Am speechless. And cannot believe we the people are even considering voting him into the most powerful position in the world. his color of skin has nothing to do with it. I have no problem electing a black or female president. It is his heart, integrity, and patriotism I question...

Just how do you put aside your hatred. He's going to ruin this country.

thank you for that very interesting post. I had already learned the truth about the pin and standing with his hand over his heart. But I didn't know about the flag burning issues.

You know, I hate to say this, but if I were him I would increase my secret service protection as much as possible.

We are in for some shocking and terrible times ahead. At least for 4 years until he gets thrown out.

Don't give up. Different polls show different numbers. Most people just post the one that suit them best. Heard earlier today that McCain is carrying the younger voters from 18-24 and older Americans. Obama is carrying the younger middle age voters. There are many people praying for this election, and I continue to believe God is in charge. With God all things are possible. Vote McCain/Palin!!!!!

That didn't happen.

Idiotic, clueless e-mailers will be the ruination of the country, not Barack Obama.

Quit asking for God's help in a manner that "aligns with your political beliefs" in this situation. Isn't somewhat presumptuous to assume your position is the one God wants?

I don't need you to tell me what, or what not to do. I never said or assumed that my position is the one God wants. I ask God for help regarding many different situations, and circumstances. It is my belief that we will all need God's help IF and WHEN Nobama is elected. You're the one being presumptuous to read something into my post that isn't there.

I wouldn't expect you'd change your views...but at least you've got the correct information on this particular issue! Like him or don't like him for what he really is - not for what "somebody said that somebody said" he is.

Thanks for being open to other information! We've all got to be able to at least listen to each other, don't we?!

I read this story about the Secret Service, and the lady they visited, and it is scary!

Isn't it odd? He's not even been elected, and already the fear factor is in place. All I can add to this is,....GOD BLESS AMERICA!

What are you praying for, though? If Obama wins, wouldn't that then be God's will? Surely a few million democrats are not more powerful than God...

I was incredibly shocked and upset to read what this email had to say when I received it in a forward, especially when one of the original forwarders sent it with the words "Please don't take offense to this article...it's just a bit of information that is fact."

My own personal political stance on the matter has no baring or importance to my reply. It took me a simple two-minute fact check in the form of a google web search to uncover the following "information that is fact":

- There is no such person as "Dale Lindsborg", nor is there a "Dale Lindsborg" associated with the Washington Post. Who in the email I received was noted as the writer.

- Senator Obama has not been on Meet the Press since May 4th, 2008 (Joe Biden was on Meet the Press on Sept. 7th and there was absolutely no discussion about flag-burning)

-The article that was written as a piece of fictional satire (defined by Merriam-Webster as "trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly") by writer John Semmens who has a satire column in the Arizona Conservative called "Semi-News". Someone took this article from his column and started forwarding it as a piece of email truth under the guise of the fake name "Dale Lindsborg." Again, Senator Obama was NOT on Meet the Press on Sept. 7th.

I do not for a moment doubt that it might be just as easy to find extreme leftist emails derailing the McCain-Palin campaign with falsified information. I'm sure these emails are just as easy to debunk within a matter of minutes.

I write to simply state that whomever you may be voting for this election, and whatever your party stance may be, PLEASE remember that we now live in a day and age of mass communication where email and the invention of websites such as youtube.com provide for easy methods of creation to spread false propaganda for whatever political agenda a person may wish to express. We owe it not only to ourselves, but also our great country, to question any and all "factual" material that is provided to us in this manner, as well as any other, before making decisions and passing it along to our friends and loved ones as truth. I, for one, would like to believe that our country should be able to hold onto the honor of not having to submit to such shameful political practices.

Thank you for a well informed reply. The sad thing is, the vast majority of the people that come to this forum are not in the very least interested in truth or facts. I want to believe that most of them are not gullible enough to actually believe the stuff they are saying. They just come here hoping for justification in their ignorance of the facts. As for myself, I voted republican for 25 years. But the hatred, divisivness, and lies that the republican party has embraced in the last three or four elections has caused me to re-evaluate my allegiance. I think a disagreement on issues is a healthy argument. But trying to convince people that they are un-American or not real Americans because they disagree with you is not good for our great country. Barack Obama has shown an ability to unify people and a great sense of leadership in a time of conflict. This is one of the things the republican party has criticized him for the most. Republicans have spent the last 2 years spreading lies about Obama instead of focusing on the issues that affect hard working Americans. I guess I'll never understand why people get so angry over politics but won't take the time to search for what our politicians stand for instead of getting their political views from chain e-mails. It is for that reason I voted for Barack Obama. The first presidential vote I've cast for a democrat in my lifetime.

Ok let the bashing begin.
