As far as getting your facts right before you run your lying mouth, prehaps you need to do the same.

Dormer was not a Captain in the Naval Reserve,He was a Lieutenant when he was discharged with 11 years of service. In addition he was not an active law officer. He had been suspended in 2008 and terminated in 2009 from LAPD for miscounduct.

Neither occupation would have precluded Dormer from being a left winger.

I feel quit sorry for such a well educated man that has nothing to do on Saturday night but pick fights on topix. Should not you be at country club having drinks and making small talk with your doctor friends instead making up imagery people that agree with your lunatic ravings? O and here's something for you SMD
What is your excuse?

Does being a Lt. Instead of a captin make more or less left wing?

Makes no difference at all, however "not nut" was making a smart a** response about getting facts correct while his "facts" were incorrect.

Or if the innocent would have had a gun they might still be alive. Especially the folks out in California. But maybe you should bring a knife to a gun fight.

<quoted text>Your such a smart fellow, let me tell you what I know about the 5.56 fmj NATO round. It comes out of the barrel of a ar15 at better than 3,000 fps. It can weigh between 53 and 55 grams. That's about the same weight as a small rings of keys. Because it is so small and fast it is a little unstable. When it hits some more solid that air (kids people) an starts to slow down, it becomes very unstable and because the back of the bullit is heavier than the front it will began it tumble end over in just like a little buzz saw. It was designed this way for maxim killing power. All the energy is dumped into the target. It tears meat and pulivers bone.
Do you know the difference between .223 or 5.56? Do you actually now what full metal jacket is? 5.56 NATO is usually heavier then 55 grains(not grams), more like in the 60s and up in terms of weight. If you had a barrel with 1:7 twist firing 5.56, yes it would be unstable and less accurate due to less rifling. Most 5.56 barrels have a 1:9 twist for a better spin, which causes the projectile to have more stability and accuracy in flight..223 ammunition is better suited for a slow spin, due to less mass (45-55 grain not grams) and usually uses a 1:7 twist barrel. By the way, neither projectiles does not way close to a set of keys. 3000 fps? That depends on the load of powder in the casing. 3000 fps in not that great out of a rifle. Many standard hunting rounds produce better then that and the .233/5.56 should usually produce better results with adequate loading. The .223 was develop for small varmint hunting, the 5.56 NATO was design off the .223 for combat. It was deemed to be the smallest projectile to be humanely used in combat, to cut down in cost to produce and weight, so that the soldier can carry more. Since then, civilians have been using the 5.56 to humanely use in deer hunting and and the unfortunate event of self defense of ones life. Please educate your self.

A F M J is a cartridge where the bullet is fully jacketed in copper over a lead core. The 3100 hundred fps is for a standard NATO round fired in a standard m16 with a 20" barrel. Studies from the Vietnam war showed that most rifle exchanges took place with thirty yards in bad sighting conditions. That is what where the m 16/ a r15 are made to be most effective. It would be kinder to use a 30 caliber rifle to hunt white tail deer

How did it make me feel? Sad that schools are a gun free zone, so that when idiots decide to go play shootem up at one there isn't someone on site to stop it for so long till a gun does show up to stop the insanity.

Think about why the shooters pick schools and not police stations. Enough of this crap people with all your bleeding hearts. If you had the guts to carry good folks wouldn't fall victims to such violence in the first place but I bet you never considered that..

Stop waiting for others to protect you and learn it's your responcibilty in a crazy world to protect yourself's. Teach your children not to be bystanders during the violence.

This world needs hero's and folks like it or not real hero's don't make it home most of the time. I know what I said sounds cruel and tough hearted but it is the truth like it or not and most damn well know it.

All it takes is one person to do bad, but one the flipside of the coin all it takes is one selfless person to stop them!!!

My point wasn't the poor guy that lost his son. but nice try to derail my point and you know it. I feel bad that his son was killed for that matter that anyone dies in such a fashion but it doesn't stop my point now does it.

Would you put yourself in harms way to stop this sort of thing from happening or would you go into self preservation mode and cower in fear that you might die? Or would you make a stand for the good of others? Because I'm willing to bet most who are antigun would tremble in fear let others die so long as they didn't take a risk at being shot. Your armchair quarterbacking is pointless since I can bet you would never stand in harms way, could be wrong about you but I bet most would run instead of taking a bullet for one of those children
